Translation by Abdul Hye — Permalink

Verse 1 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:1

Verse 2 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:2

These are the Verses of the clear book (the Qur’an)

Verse 3 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:3

It may be that you (O Muhammad) are going to kill yourself (with grief) because they don’t become believers

Verse 4 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:4

If We will, We could send down a Verse to them from the heaven so their necks would bend to it in humility

Verse 5 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:5

And never comes to them any reminder from the Gracious (Allah) as a recent revelation, but they have been turning away from it

Verse 6 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:6

So they have denied (this Qur’an), then the news will come to them of what they were mocking at

Verse 7 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:7

Don’t they observe the earth to see how much We have caused every good kind to grow in it

Verse 8 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:8

Surely, in this is a Sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 9 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:9

And surely, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 10 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:10

And (remember) when your Lord called Moses (saying): “You go to the people who are wrongdoers

Verse 11 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:11

the people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?”

Verse 12 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:12

He said: “My Lord! Surely, I fear that they will deny me

Verse 13 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:13

and my breast straitens, and my tongue does not express well. So send Aaron

Verse 14 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:14

And they have a charge of crime (man-slaughter) against me, and I fear they will kill me.”

Verse 15 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:15

(Allah) said: “Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Surely! We shall be with you, listening

Verse 16 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:16

And go to Pharaoh both of you and say: We are the Messengers of the Lord of the worlds

Verse 17 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:17

So (send to go) with us the children of Israel.”

Verse 18 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:18

(Pharaoh) said (to Moses): “Did we not bring you up among us as a child? You stayed with us many years of your life

Verse 19 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:19

And you did what you did (crime of killing a man). You are one of the ungrateful.”

Verse 20 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:20

Moses said: “I did it then when I was from the misguided

Verse 21 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:21

So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me right judgment, and made me one of the Messengers

Verse 22 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:22

And this is a favor with which you admonish me, that you have enslaved the children of Israel.”

Verse 23 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:23

Pharaoh said: “And who is the Lord of the worlds?”

Verse 24 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:24

(Moses) said: “Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you are seeking to be convinced with certainty.”

Verse 25 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:25

(Pharaoh) said to those around him: “Don’t you hear (what he says)?”

Verse 26 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:26

(Moses) said: “(Allah is) your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers!”

Verse 27 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:27

(Pharaoh) said: “Surely, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!”

Verse 28 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:28

(Moses) said: “Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!”

Verse 29 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:29

(Pharaoh) said: “If you choose one worthy of worship other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners.”

Verse 30 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:30

(Moses) said: “Even if I bring you something clear?”

Verse 31 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:31

(Pharaoh) said: “Bring it forth, if you are from the truthful!”

Verse 32 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:32

So (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it was a clear serpent

Verse 33 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:33

And then he drew out his hand, and behold, it became white (bright) to all beholders

Verse 34 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:34

(Pharaoh) said to the chiefs around him: “Surely! This is indeed a well-Versed sorcerer

Verse 35 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:35

he wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what is it that you advice?”

Verse 36 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:36

They said: “Put him off and his brother (for a while), and send callers to the cities

Verse 37 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:37

they will bring to you every well-Versed sorcerer.”

Verse 38 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:38

So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on an appointed Day

Verse 39 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:39

And it was said to the people: “Will you assemble

Verse 40 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:40

So that we may follow the sorcerers if they are the winners.”

Verse 41 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:41

When the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: “Is there a reward for us if we are the winners?”

Verse 42 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:42

(Pharaoh) said: “Yes, and surely then you will be of those brought near (to me).”

Verse 43 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:43

Moses said to them: “Throw what you are going to throw!”

Verse 44 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:44

So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: “By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will be the winners!”

Verse 45 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:45

Then Moses threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all that they falsely showed

Verse 46 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:46

And the sorcerers fell down prostrate

Verse 47 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:47

saying: “We believe in the Lord of the worlds

Verse 48 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:48

the Lord of Moses and Aaron.”

Verse 49 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:49

(Pharaoh) said: “You have believed in him before I give permission to you. Surely, he is your chief who has taught you magic! So surely, you shall come to know. I will cut off your hands and your legs on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all.”

Verse 50 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:50

They said: “No harm (don’t care)! Surely, we are going to return to our Lord (anyway)

Verse 51 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:51

Surely! We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers (in Moses).”

Verse 52 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:52

And We revealed to Moses saying: “Depart by night with My servants, surely, you will be pursued.”

Verse 53 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:53

Then Pharaoh sent callers to the cities

Verse 54 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:54

(saying): “Surely! These are (indeed but) a small band

Verse 55 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:55

and surely, they have enraged us

Verse 56 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:56

and surely we are all assembled, well prepared.”

Verse 57 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:57

So, We made them leave from their gardens, water springs

Verse 58 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:58

treasures, and honorable places

Verse 59 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:59

Thus We caused the children of Israel to inherit such things

Verse 60 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:60

So they (people of Pharaoh) pursued them at sunrise

Verse 61 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:61

And when the 2 hosts saw (each other), the companions of Moses said: “Surely we are to be overtaken.”

Verse 62 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:62

(Moses) said: “Nay, surely! With me is my Lord, He will guide me.”

Verse 63 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:63

Then We revealed to Moses (saying): “Strike the sea with your stick.” It parted, and each part (of the sea water) became like the huge mountain

Verse 64 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:64

Then We brought near (to that sea) the others (Pharaoh and his army)

Verse 65 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:65

and We saved Moses and all those with him

Verse 66 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:66

then We drowned the others

Verse 67 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:67

Surely! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 68 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:68

and surely, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 69 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:69

And recite to them the story of Abraham

Verse 70 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:70

when he (Abraham) said his father and his people: “What do you worship?”

Verse 71 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:71

They said: “We worship idols, and we remain devoted to them.”

Verse 72 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:72

He said: “Do they hear you when you call (on them)

Verse 73 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:73

Or do they benefit you or do they harm you?”

Verse 74 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:74

They said: “Nay, but we found our forefathers doing so.”

Verse 75 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:75

He said: “Do you observe which you have been worshipping

Verse 76 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:76

you and your forefathers

Verse 77 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:77

Surely! They are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds

Verse 78 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:78

who has created me, and it is He who guides me

Verse 79 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:79

And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink

Verse 80 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:80

and when I am ill, it is He Who cures me

Verse 81 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:81

Who will cause me to die, then will bring me to life (again)

Verse 82 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:82

and Who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense.”

Verse 83 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:83

(Abraham prayed): “My Lord! Bestow wisdom on me, join me with the righteous

Verse 84 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:84

and grant me an honorable mention in later generations

Verse 85 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:85

and make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight

Verse 86 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:86

and forgive my father, surely he is of the erring

Verse 87 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:87

and don’t disgrace me on the Day when all creatures will be resurrected

Verse 88 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:88

the Day when neither wealth nor sons will avail

Verse 89 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:89

except the one who will bring a clean heart to Allah

Verse 90 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:90

and Paradise will be brought near to the pious

Verse 91 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:91

and the hellfire will be placed in full view for the erring

Verse 92 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:92

and it will be said to them: “Where are those (false deities) that you used to worship

Verse 93 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:93

instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?”

Verse 94 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:94

Then they will be thrown on their faces into it (fire), they are those who were in error

Verse 95 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:95

and the hosts (soldiers) of Satan together

Verse 96 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:96

they will say while they argue in it

Verse 97 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:97

(saying): “by Allah, we were truly in a clear error

Verse 98 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:98

when We held you (false deities) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the worlds

Verse 99 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:99

And none has brought us into error except the criminals

Verse 100 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:100

Now we have no intercessors

Verse 101 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:101

nor a close friend (to help us)

Verse 102 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:102

If we had a chance (to return to the world), we would be among the believers!”

Verse 103 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:103

Surely! In this narration there is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 104 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:104

And surely, your Lord, He is truly the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 105 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:105

The people of Noah denied the Messengers

Verse 106 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:106

When their brother Noah said to them: “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 107 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:107

Surely I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

Verse 108 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:108

so fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 109 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:109

I don’t ask you any reward for it (my message), my reward is not but from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 110 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:110

so fear Allah and obey me.”

Verse 111 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:111

They said: “Shall we believe in you, when the lowest (of the people) follow you?”

Verse 112 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:112

He said: “And what knowledge have I of what they used to do

Verse 113 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:113

Their account is with my Lord, if you could know

Verse 114 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:114

And I am not going to drive away the believers

Verse 115 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:115

I am not but a plain Warner.”

Verse 116 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:116

They said: “If you don’t cease, O Noah! You will surely be among those stoned (to death).”

Verse 117 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:117

He said: “My Lord! Surely, my people have denied me

Verse 118 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:118

Therefore judge between me and them with fair judgment, and save me and those of the believers who are with me.”

Verse 119 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:119

And We saved him and those with him in the laden ship

Verse 120 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:120

then We drowned the rest (disbelievers) thereafter

Verse 121 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:121

Surely, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 122 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:122

And surely! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 123 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:123

Ad (people) denied the Messengers

Verse 124 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:124

When their brother Hud said to them: “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 125 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:125

Surely! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

Verse 126 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:126

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 127 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:127

I don’t ask you any reward for it, my reward is from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 128 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:128

Do you build landmark on every high palace to play for fun

Verse 129 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:129

And do you take for yourselves palaces (fine buildings) as if you will reside therein forever

Verse 130 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:130

And when you seize anyone, you seize him as tyrants

Verse 131 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:131

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 132 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:132

And Fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know

Verse 133 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:133

He has aided you with cattle, children

Verse 134 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:134

and gardens, and springs

Verse 135 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:135

Surely, I fear for you the punishment of a Great Day.”

Verse 136 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:136

They said: “It is the same to us whether you preach or you are not of those who preach

Verse 137 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:137

This is nothing but the customs of the ancients

Verse 138 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:138

And we are not going to be punished.”

Verse 139 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:139

So they denied him, and We destroyed them. Surely! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 140 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:140

And surely! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 141 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:141

Thamud (people) denied the Messengers

Verse 142 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:142

When their brother Saleh said to them: “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 143 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:143

Surely I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

Verse 144 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:144

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 145 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:145

I don’t ask any reward for it (my message); my reward is from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 146 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:146

Will you be left secure in that which you have here (forever)

Verse 147 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:147

Verse 148 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:148

and cornfields, and date-palms with its soft flowering branches

Verse 149 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:149

and you carve houses in the mountains skillfully

Verse 150 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:150

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 151 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:151

And don’t follow the command of the wasters

Verse 152 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:152

who make mischief in the land, and don’t reform.”

Verse 153 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:153

They said: “Surely you are only of those bewitched

Verse 154 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:154

You are not but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful.”

Verse 155 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:155

He (Saleh) said: “This is a she-camel (Allah sent as you asked); it has a right to drink water and you have a right to drink water on a known day

Verse 156 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:156

And don’t touch her with harm, lest the punishment of a great Day may seize you.”

Verse 157 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:157

But they killed her, and then they became regretful

Verse 158 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:158

so the punishment overtook them. Surely, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 159 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:159

And surely! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 160 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:160

The people of Lot denied the Messengers

Verse 161 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:161

When their brother Lot said to them: “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 162 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:162

Surely! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

Verse 163 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:163

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 164 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:164

I don’t ask of you any reward for it (my message), my reward is from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 165 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:165

And will you go into the males (to fornicate) of the mankind

Verse 166 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:166

and leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a transgressing people!”

Verse 167 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:167

They said: “If you don’t cease, O Lot! Surely, you will be one of those who are expelled!”

Verse 168 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:168

He said: “I am, indeed of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury

Verse 169 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:169

My Lord! Save me and my family from what they do.”

Verse 170 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:170

So We saved him and all his family

Verse 171 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:171

except an old woman (his wife) among those who remained behind

Verse 172 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:172

Then afterward We destroyed the others

Verse 173 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:173

And We rained on them a rain (of punishment). Evil was the rain which fell on those who had been warned

Verse 174 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:174

Surely, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 175 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:175

And surely! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 176 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:176

The residents of Al-Aiyka (a garden with thick trees near Midian) denied the Messengers

Verse 177 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:177

When Shuaib said to them: “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 178 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:178

I am a trustworthy Messenger to you

Verse 179 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:179

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 180 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:180

I don’t ask of you any reward for it (my message), my reward is from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 181 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:181

Give full measure, and don’t be among those who cause loss (to others by fraud)

Verse 182 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:182

And weigh with the just straight balance

Verse 183 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:183

and neither defraud people by reducing their things, nor do evil in the land making corruption

Verse 184 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:184

And fear Him Who created you and the generations before you.”

Verse 185 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:185

They said: “Surely you are one of those bewitched

Verse 186 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:186

You are not but a human being like us and surely, we think that indeed you are one of the liars

Verse 187 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:187

So cause a piece of the heaven to fall on us, if you are of the truthful!”

Verse 188 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:188

He said: “My Lord is Best Knower of what you do.”

Verse 189 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:189

But they denied him, so the punishment of the Day of shadow (cloud carrying Allah’s punishment) seized them, indeed that was the punishment of a great Day

Verse 190 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:190

Surely, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers

Verse 191 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:191

And surely! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Merciful

Verse 192 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:192

And truly, this (the Qur’an) is a revelation of the Lord of the worlds

Verse 193 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:193

The trustworthy spirit (Gabriel) has brought down

Verse 194 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:194

upon your heart (O Muhammad) so that you may be one of the warners

Verse 195 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:195

in the plain Arabic language

Verse 196 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:196

And surely, it (the Qur’an) has the Scriptures of former people

Verse 197 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:197

Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars knew it of the children of Israel

Verse 198 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:198

And if We had revealed it (this Qur’an) to any of the non-Arabs

Verse 199 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:199

and who had recited it (in Arabic) to them, they would still not have believed in it

Verse 200 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:200

We have caused it (disbelief) to enter in the hearts of the criminals

Verse 201 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:201

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment

Verse 202 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:202

it will come to them suddenly while they don’t perceive it

Verse 203 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:203

Then they will say: “Can we be given respite?”

Verse 204 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:204

Do they wish to hasten on Our Punishment

Verse 205 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:205

Have you thought if We do let them enjoy for years

Verse 206 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:206

and afterwards comes to them what (punishment) they are promised

Verse 207 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:207

all that which their past enjoyment be to them

Verse 208 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:208

And We never destroyed a township without sending its warners

Verse 209 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:209

by way of reminder (in advance), and We have never been unjust

Verse 210 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:210

And it is not the devils who have brought it (this Qur’an) down

Verse 211 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:211

neither it would suit them, nor they can produce it

Verse 212 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:212

Surely, they have been removed far from hearing it

Verse 213 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:213

So don’t invoke with Allah another one worthy of worship lest you be among those who receive punishment

Verse 214 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:214

And warn your tribe (O Muhammad) of near relatives

Verse 215 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:215

and lower or put down your wing (be kind and humble) to those of the believers who follow you

Verse 216 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:216

if they disobey you, say: “Verily, I am not responsible for what you do.”

Verse 217 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:217
