Verse 1 — Surah As-Saffat 37:1
By those (angels) arranged in rows
Verse 2 — Surah As-Saffat 37:2
by those (angels) who are strong in repelling (evil)
Verse 3 — Surah As-Saffat 37:3
by those (angels) who bring the book (the Qur’an)
Verse 4 — Surah As-Saffat 37:4
surely your one worthy of worship is indeed One (Allah)
Verse 5 — Surah As-Saffat 37:5
the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between them, and Lord of every point of the sun’s risings
Verse 6 — Surah As-Saffat 37:6
Surely! We have adorned the lower heaven with beautiful stars
Verse 7 — Surah As-Saffat 37:7
and has guarded against all rebellious devils
Verse 8 — Surah As-Saffat 37:8
They cannot even listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side
Verse 9 — Surah As-Saffat 37:9
repulsed and they are under a constant punishment
Verse 10 — Surah As-Saffat 37:10
Except such as snatch away something by stealing and they are pursued by a flaming fire of piercing brightness
Verse 11 — Surah As-Saffat 37:11
Ask them (polytheists, O Muhammad): “Are they stronger as creation, or those whom We have created?” Surely, We created them of sticky clay
Verse 12 — Surah As-Saffat 37:12
Nay, you (Muhammad) wonder while they mock (at you and the Qur’an)
Verse 13 — Surah As-Saffat 37:13
When they are reminded, they don’t pay attention
Verse 14 — Surah As-Saffat 37:14
and when they see a Verse (from Allah), they mock at it
Verse 15 — Surah As-Saffat 37:15
and say: “This is nothing but clear magic
Verse 16 — Surah As-Saffat 37:16
When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then surely be resurrected
Verse 17 — Surah As-Saffat 37:17
Also our forefathers of old times?”
Verse 18 — Surah As-Saffat 37:18
Say (O Muhammad): “Yes and you shall then be humiliated.”
Verse 19 — Surah As-Saffat 37:19
It will be only a single shout and they will be staring
Verse 20 — Surah As-Saffat 37:20
They will say: “Woe to us! This is the Day of recompense!”
Verse 21 — Surah As-Saffat 37:21
(It will be said): “This is the Day of judgment which you used to deny.”
Verse 22 — Surah As-Saffat 37:22
(It will be said to the angels): “Assemble those who did wrong, together with their companions whom they used to worship
Verse 23 — Surah As-Saffat 37:23
besides Allah, and lead them to the way of flaming fire (hell).”
Verse 24 — Surah As-Saffat 37:24
(When they will be gathered, Allah will say): “Stop them, surely they are to be questioned
Verse 25 — Surah As-Saffat 37:25
What is the matter with you? Why don’t you help one another (as you used to do in the world)?”
Verse 26 — Surah As-Saffat 37:26
Nay, but that Day they shall surrender
Verse 27 — Surah As-Saffat 37:27
Some of them will face others to question one another
Verse 28 — Surah As-Saffat 37:28
They will say (to their leaders): “Surely, you used to come to us from the right (with authority to beautify every evil, enjoin polytheism, and stop us from the truth).”
Verse 29 — Surah As-Saffat 37:29
They will reply: “Nay, you were not believers
Verse 30 — Surah As-Saffat 37:30
We had no authority over you. Nay! You were transgressing people
Verse 31 — Surah As-Saffat 37:31
now the Word of our Lord has become justified against us, and indeed we shall taste (the punishment)
Verse 32 — Surah As-Saffat 37:32
So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray.”
Verse 33 — Surah As-Saffat 37:33
Then surely on that Day, they will share in the punishment
Verse 34 — Surah As-Saffat 37:34
Certainly, that is how We shall deal with sinners
Verse 35 — Surah As-Saffat 37:35
surely, when it was said to them: “There is no one worthy of worship but Allah,” they used to puff themselves up with pride
Verse 36 — Surah As-Saffat 37:36
and say: “Are we going to abandon our one worthy of worship for the sake of a mad poet?”
Verse 37 — Surah As-Saffat 37:37
Nay! He (Muhammad) has come with the truth and he has confirmed the (previous) Messengers
Verse 38 — Surah As-Saffat 37:38
(It will be said): “Surely, you (polytheists) are going to taste the painful punishment
Verse 39 — Surah As-Saffat 37:39
and you will be requited nothing except for what you had done (evil deeds).”
Verse 40 — Surah As-Saffat 37:40
Except the chosen (faithful) devotees of Allah
Verse 41 — Surah As-Saffat 37:41
those for them will have known provision
Verse 42 — Surah As-Saffat 37:42
fruits, and they shall be honored
Verse 43 — Surah As-Saffat 37:43
in the gardens of delight (Paradise)
Verse 44 — Surah As-Saffat 37:44
on the thrones facing one another
Verse 45 — Surah As-Saffat 37:45
served around (them) with a cup of pure wine
Verse 46 — Surah As-Saffat 37:46
crystal-white, delicious to the drinkers
Verse 47 — Surah As-Saffat 37:47
Neither they will have any kind of hurt, headache or sin in that, nor will they suffer intoxication from that
Verse 48 — Surah As-Saffat 37:48
With them will be chaste females restraining their glances (for husbands only) with wide and beautiful eyes
Verse 49 — Surah As-Saffat 37:49
as if they were preserved eggs
Verse 50 — Surah As-Saffat 37:50
Some of them will turn to others, questioning each others
Verse 51 — Surah As-Saffat 37:51
One of them will say: “Surely, I had a companion for me (in the world)
Verse 52 — Surah As-Saffat 37:52
who used to say: ‘Are you among those who believe (in Resurrection after death)
Verse 53 — Surah As-Saffat 37:53
When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to deeds)?”’
Verse 54 — Surah As-Saffat 37:54
It will be said (to him): “Will you look down (to see the friend)?”
Verse 55 — Surah As-Saffat 37:55
So the person looked down and saw friend in the midst of the fire
Verse 56 — Surah As-Saffat 37:56
The person said: “By Allah! You have nearly ruined me
Verse 57 — Surah As-Saffat 37:57
Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to hell)
Verse 58 — Surah As-Saffat 37:58
(The believer in the heaven will say): “Are we then not to die (any more)
Verse 59 — Surah As-Saffat 37:59
after our first death and we shall not be punished?”
Verse 60 — Surah As-Saffat 37:60
Truly, this is the supreme success
Verse 61 — Surah As-Saffat 37:61
For such an end, let everyone strive who wishes to strive
Verse 62 — Surah As-Saffat 37:62
Is this (Paradise) a better entertainment or the tree of the Zaqqum (a horrible tree in hell)
Verse 63 — Surah As-Saffat 37:63
Truly, We have made it a trail for the wrongdoers
Verse 64 — Surah As-Saffat 37:64
Surely, it is a tree that grows in the bottom of hellfire
Verse 65 — Surah As-Saffat 37:65
the shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils
Verse 66 — Surah As-Saffat 37:66
so truly, they will eat from it and fill their bellies from it
Verse 67 — Surah As-Saffat 37:67
Then surely, on top of that, they will be given a mixture of boiling water (to drink)
Verse 68 — Surah As-Saffat 37:68
Then surely, their return is to the flaming fire of hell
Verse 69 — Surah As-Saffat 37:69
In fact, they found their fathers on the wrong way
Verse 70 — Surah As-Saffat 37:70
so they are too haste to follow their footsteps
Verse 71 — Surah As-Saffat 37:71
and indeed most of the ancient people went astray before them
Verse 72 — Surah As-Saffat 37:72
and indeed We had sent warners (Messengers) among them
Verse 73 — Surah As-Saffat 37:73
Then see how was the end of those who were warned (all perished)
Verse 74 — Surah As-Saffat 37:74
except the chosen (faithful) devotees of Allah
Verse 75 — Surah As-Saffat 37:75
And indeed Noah prayed to Us, and indeed We are the Best to answer (the prayer)
Verse 76 — Surah As-Saffat 37:76
And We rescued him and his family from the great distress (drowning)
Verse 77 — Surah As-Saffat 37:77
and made his progeny to be the only survivors
Verse 78 — Surah As-Saffat 37:78
and left for him (a good name) among generations to come in later times
Verse 79 — Surah As-Saffat 37:79
Peace be upon Noah (from Us) among the (people of) worlds
Verse 80 — Surah As-Saffat 37:80
Surely, thus We reward the righteous people
Verse 81 — Surah As-Saffat 37:81
Surely, he (Noah) was one of Our believing devotees
Verse 82 — Surah As-Saffat 37:82
Then We drowned the others (disbelievers)
Verse 83 — Surah As-Saffat 37:83
Surely, among those who followed his (Noah’s) way was Abraham
Verse 84 — Surah As-Saffat 37:84
when he came to his Lord with a pure heart
Verse 85 — Surah As-Saffat 37:85
When he said to his father and to his people: “What is it you worship
Verse 86 — Surah As-Saffat 37:86
Is it a falsehood worthy of worship other than Allah that you seek
Verse 87 — Surah As-Saffat 37:87
Then what do you think about the Lord of the worlds?”
Verse 88 — Surah As-Saffat 37:88
Then he looked a glance at the stars
Verse 89 — Surah As-Saffat 37:89
and said: “Surely, I am sick (he did this trick to stay in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan’s feast).”
Verse 90 — Surah As-Saffat 37:90
So they turned away from him, and departed
Verse 91 — Surah As-Saffat 37:91
Then he turned to their idols and said: “Why don’t you eat (from food offered)
Verse 92 — Surah As-Saffat 37:92
What is the matter with you that you don’t speak?”
Verse 93 — Surah As-Saffat 37:93
Then he turned upon them, striking with his right hand
Verse 94 — Surah As-Saffat 37:94
They (idol worshippers) came running towards him
Verse 95 — Surah As-Saffat 37:95
He said: ”Do you worship what you carve
Verse 96 — Surah As-Saffat 37:96
while Allah has created you and what you have make?”
Verse 97 — Surah As-Saffat 37:97
They said: “Build for him a building (like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!”
Verse 98 — Surah As-Saffat 37:98
So they plotted against him, but We made them the lowest (humiliated)
Verse 99 — Surah As-Saffat 37:99
He said (after his rescue from fire): “Surely, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me
Verse 100 — Surah As-Saffat 37:100
My Lord! Grant me (offspring) from the righteous.”
Verse 101 — Surah As-Saffat 37:101
So We gave him the glad tidings of a gentle boy
Verse 102 — Surah As-Saffat 37:102
When he (son) was old enough to walk with him, he said: “O my son! Surely, I have seen in the sleep (dream) that I am slaughtering you (sacrifice to Allah), so what do you think!” He said: “O my father! Do what you are commanded (by Allah), you shall find me of the patient.”
Verse 103 — Surah As-Saffat 37:103
Then, when they had both submitted themselves (to Allah), and he laid his son prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice)
Verse 104 — Surah As-Saffat 37:104
and Allah called out to him: “O Abraham
Verse 105 — Surah As-Saffat 37:105
Surely, you have fulfilled the dream!” Surely! Thus We reward the righteous people
Verse 106 — Surah As-Saffat 37:106
Surely, that was indeed a clear trial
Verse 107 — Surah As-Saffat 37:107
We ransomed his son for a great sacrifice
Verse 108 — Surah As-Saffat 37:108
and We left for him (good name) among the later generations (to come)
Verse 109 — Surah As-Saffat 37:109
Peace be upon Abraham
Verse 110 — Surah As-Saffat 37:110
Thus indeed We reward the righteous people
Verse 111 — Surah As-Saffat 37:111
Surely, he was one of Our believing devotees
Verse 112 — Surah As-Saffat 37:112
And We gave him the glad tidings of (his son) Isaac, a prophet from the righteous
Verse 113 — Surah As-Saffat 37:113
We blessed him and Isaac. Of their progeny, there are some who do right, and some plainly wrong themselves
Verse 114 — Surah As-Saffat 37:114
Indeed We gave Our Grace to Moses and Aaron
Verse 115 — Surah As-Saffat 37:115
We saved them and their people from the great distress
Verse 116 — Surah As-Saffat 37:116
and helped them, so they became victorious
Verse 117 — Surah As-Saffat 37:117
We gave them the clear Scripture (Torah)
Verse 118 — Surah As-Saffat 37:118
and guided them to the Right Way
Verse 119 — Surah As-Saffat 37:119
We left for them (a good name) among later generations (to come)
Verse 120 — Surah As-Saffat 37:120
Peace be upon Moses and Aaron
Verse 121 — Surah As-Saffat 37:121
Surely, thus We do reward the righteous people
Verse 122 — Surah As-Saffat 37:122
Surely! They were of Our believing devotees
Verse 123 — Surah As-Saffat 37:123
Surely, Elias was one of the Messengers
Verse 124 — Surah As-Saffat 37:124
When he said to his people: “Will you not fear (Allah)
Verse 125 — Surah As-Saffat 37:125
Will you call upon Bal (idol) and forsake the best of creators
Verse 126 — Surah As-Saffat 37:126
Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?”
Verse 127 — Surah As-Saffat 37:127
But they denied him (Elias), so they will certainly be brought forth (to the punishment)
Verse 128 — Surah As-Saffat 37:128
except the chosen (faithful) devotees of Allah
Verse 129 — Surah As-Saffat 37:129
We left for him (a good name) among later generations (to come)
Verse 130 — Surah As-Saffat 37:130
Peace be upon Elias
Verse 131 — Surah As-Saffat 37:131
Surely, thus We reward the righteous people
Verse 132 — Surah As-Saffat 37:132
Surely, he was one of Our believing devotees
Verse 133 — Surah As-Saffat 37:133
Surely, Lot was one of the Messengers
Verse 134 — Surah As-Saffat 37:134
When We saved him and all his family
Verse 135 — Surah As-Saffat 37:135
except an old woman (who was) among those who remained behind
Verse 136 — Surah As-Saffat 37:136
then We destroyed the rest (the towns of Sodom at the Dead Sea in Jordan)
Verse 137 — Surah As-Saffat 37:137
Surely, you pass by them in the morning
Verse 138 — Surah As-Saffat 37:138
and at night; will you not then reflect (think)
Verse 139 — Surah As-Saffat 37:139
Surely, Jonah was one of the Messengers
Verse 140 — Surah As-Saffat 37:140
When he ran to the laden ship
Verse 141 — Surah As-Saffat 37:141
he (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers
Verse 142 — Surah As-Saffat 37:142
Then a (big) fish swallowed him while he had done an act worthy of blame
Verse 143 — Surah As-Saffat 37:143
Had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Allah)
Verse 144 — Surah As-Saffat 37:144
he would have indeed remained in its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection
Verse 145 — Surah As-Saffat 37:145
Then We cast him out on the naked shore while he was sick
Verse 146 — Surah As-Saffat 37:146
and We caused a plant of gourd (squash) to grow over him
Verse 147 — Surah As-Saffat 37:147
Then We had sent him to a nation of 100,000 people or even more
Verse 148 — Surah As-Saffat 37:148
They believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while
Verse 149 — Surah As-Saffat 37:149
Now ask them (disbelievers, O Muhammad): (Does it make sense that) your Lord should have only daughters while they choose to have sons
Verse 150 — Surah As-Saffat 37:150
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses
Verse 151 — Surah As-Saffat 37:151
Surely, they invent a lie when they say
Verse 152 — Surah As-Saffat 37:152
“Allah has begotten (children). Surely, they are liars!”
Verse 153 — Surah As-Saffat 37:153
Has He chosen daughters (rather than) sons
Verse 154 — Surah As-Saffat 37:154
What is the matter with you? How do you decide
Verse 155 — Surah As-Saffat 37:155
Will you not then remember
Verse 156 — Surah As-Saffat 37:156
Or is there any plain authority for you
Verse 157 — Surah As-Saffat 37:157
Then bring your book if you are truthful
Verse 158 — Surah As-Saffat 37:158
They have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but indeed the jinns know quite well that they will be brought for account (before Allah)
Verse 159 — Surah As-Saffat 37:159
Glory be to Allah! (He is free) from what they attribute to Him
Verse 160 — Surah As-Saffat 37:160
except the chosen (faithful) devotees of Allah
Verse 161 — Surah As-Saffat 37:161
So, neither you nor those whom you worship (idols)
Verse 162 — Surah As-Saffat 37:162
can lead (anyone) astray
Verse 163 — Surah As-Saffat 37:163
except those who are destined to burn in hell
Verse 164 — Surah As-Saffat 37:164
(The angels say): “There is one known place for us
Verse 165 — Surah As-Saffat 37:165
Surely, we stand in rows (for prayers)
Verse 166 — Surah As-Saffat 37:166
surely, we are those who glorify (Allah).”
Verse 167 — Surah As-Saffat 37:167
Indeed they (disbelievers) used to say
Verse 168 — Surah As-Saffat 37:168
“If we had a reminder like the people of old received (before the coming of Muhammad)
Verse 169 — Surah As-Saffat 37:169
we would have indeed been the chosen devotees of Allah!”
Verse 170 — Surah As-Saffat 37:170
But (since the Qur’an has come) they disbelieve in it (the Qur’an), and they will come to know (the consequence soon)
Verse 171 — Surah As-Saffat 37:171
Surely, Our Word has gone forth for Our devotees, the Messengers
Verse 172 — Surah As-Saffat 37:172
that surely they would be victorious
Verse 173 — Surah As-Saffat 37:173
and verily, Our hosts (soldiers) will be victorious
Verse 174 — Surah As-Saffat 37:174
So turn away (O Muhammad) from them for a while
Verse 175 — Surah As-Saffat 37:175
and watch them, and they shall see (your victory)
Verse 176 — Surah As-Saffat 37:176
Do they seek to hasten on Our Punishment
Verse 177 — Surah As-Saffat 37:177
Then, when it descends into their court-yard (near them), then evil will be the morning for those who had been warned
Verse 178 — Surah As-Saffat 37:178
So turn (O Muhammad) away from them for a while
Verse 179 — Surah As-Saffat 37:179
and watch (their downfall) and they shall see (your victory)
Verse 180 — Surah As-Saffat 37:180
Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of honor and power, (He is free) from what they attribute to Him
Verse 181 — Surah As-Saffat 37:181
Peace be upon the Messengers
Verse 182 — Surah As-Saffat 37:182
and all the praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds
