English - Chapter 69 - Al-Haqqah

Translation by Dr Kamal Omar — Permalink

Verse 1 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:1

Verse 2 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:2

What (is) the Reality

Verse 3 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:3

And what made you realise what is the Reality

Verse 4 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:4

Samud and ‘Ad (people) denied Al-Qariah (The Disaster)

Verse 5 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:5

So as for Samud — they were destroyed by the awful cry

Verse 6 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:6

And as for ‘Ad, — they were destroyed by a wind, furious (and) violent

Verse 7 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:7

(Allah) imposed it on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you see the (whole) nation therein lifeless as if they are (hollow) trunks of date-palm — those which fall down (themselves)

Verse 8 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:8

So do you see regarding them any remnants

Verse 9 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:9

And approached Firaun and whoever (went) before him, and the habitations that indulged in forgery — in (a state of) sin

Verse 10 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:10

So they disobeyed the Messenger of their Nourisher-Sustainer, so He seized them in a severe seizure

Verse 11 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:11

Surely We, when the water rose beyond limits, We carried you in the Ark (of Prophet Nuh)

Verse 12 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:12

so that We may establish this (extra-ordinary incident) unto you (O entire mankind!) as a Reminder and the retaining ears may retain it (in memory)

Verse 13 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:13

And when the siren is blown with one blowing (i.e., the first one)

Verse 14 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:14

and the earth and the mountains are lifted, then both got crushed in a single break-up

Verse 15 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:15

So this Day has really occurred the Inevitable (event of Resurrection)

Verse 16 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:16

And the heaven has developed cracks, so this Day it is torn-up

Verse 17 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:17

And the angels are on its limits. And bear the Throne of your Nourisher-Sustainer over themselves, this Day, eight (angels)

Verse 18 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:18

This Day, you will be brought (to your Rabb for final accountability and Judgment). Will not remain hidden any secret of you people

Verse 19 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:19

Then as for that who is handed over his record (of deeds) in his right (hand) — so he will say: “Alright, come! Read my that record

Verse 20 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:20

Surely I, I thought that I am one who will face my that accountability.”

Verse 21 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:21

So he (i.e., such a person who remained conscious of accountability is) in a happy life, well pleasing

Verse 22 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:22

in a Garden, rising-one

Verse 23 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:23

clusters of fruits whereof coming down and low (for easy reach)

Verse 24 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:24

Eat and drink joyfully because of what you already sent before in the days gone-by

Verse 25 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:25

And as for him who is handed over his record (of deeds) in his left (side) — so he will say: “O, would that, I had not been given my that record (which I did in my worldly life)

Verse 26 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:26

and I had not known what (would be) my that accountability (which has disgraced me)

Verse 27 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:27

O! Would that (death) had been one that makes things finally closed

Verse 28 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:28

Has not benefited me my that wealth (which I acquired in the world by foul means)

Verse 29 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:29

Has deserted me my that authority (which I misused in the world).”

Verse 30 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:30

(His brooding shall be interrupted thus): “Seize him and fetter him

Verse 31 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:31

afterwards throw him in the blazing Fire

Verse 32 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:32

then fasten him in a chain — the length thereof is seventy cubits!”

Verse 33 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:33

Verily, He used not to Believe in Allah, the Most High

Verse 34 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:34

and urged not for the food to the indigent

Verse 35 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:35

So (there is) not for him, this Day over-here a sincere and devoted friend

Verse 36 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:36

and nor food except out of the washings

Verse 37 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:37

Drink it not except the sinners

Verse 38 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:38

So beware! I do call to witness what you see

Verse 39 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:39

and what you see not

Verse 40 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:40

Certainly this (Al-Qur‘an or Al-Kitab) is indeed Qawl-o-Rasulin Karim (Utterance of an honoured Messenger)

Verse 41 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:41

And it is not (the) word of a poet; little is that you Believe

Verse 42 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:42

And nor (is it) the word of a clairvoyant; little (is that) which you remind (yourself and others)

Verse 43 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:43

(This is) a Descent proceeding from Nourisher-Sustainer of the worlds

Verse 44 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:44

And if he had uttered some of the sayings relating these to Us (i.e., mahead of state these narrations binding for the Believers) —

Verse 45 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:45

(then) surely, We would have seized him with (his) right (side)

Verse 46 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:46

(and) afterwards, surely We would have cut off from him (his) life-artery

Verse 47 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:47

Then (There would have been) not any one out of you as those who become an obstruction against that (punishment)

Verse 48 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:48

And without doubt this (Al-Kitab is) indeed, (the only) Tazkiratun-lil-Muttaqin (‘Reminder for the righteous)

Verse 49 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:49

And verily We, indeed We know that amongst you (are) those who deny (this status for Allah’s Scripture)

Verse 50 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:50

And undoubtedly it certainly (is a source of) disappointment for the disbelievers

Verse 51 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:51

And surely, it is indeed Haqq-ul-Yaqin (‘A certain Truth’)

Verse 52 — Surah Al-Haqqah 69:52

So glorify the name of your Nourisher-Sustainer, the Most High
