Verse 1 — Surah As-Saffat 37:1
Dialogue between the followers and the leaders who mislead them. 37 AS-SAFFAT - IN RANKS In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. By those who range themselves in ranks
Verse 2 — Surah As-Saffat 37:2
and by those who cast out demons
Verse 3 — Surah As-Saffat 37:3
and by those who proclaim the message
Verse 4 — Surah As-Saffat 37:4
surely your God is One
Verse 5 — Surah As-Saffat 37:5
the Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that lies between them, and the Lord of the easts
Verse 6 — Surah As-Saffat 37:6
We have indeed decked the worldly heaven with beautiful stars
Verse 7 — Surah As-Saffat 37:7
and have secured it against all obstinate rebellious Satans
Verse 8 — Surah As-Saffat 37:8
They cannot even hear the words of the exalted assembly of angels and they are darted at from every side
Verse 9 — Surah As-Saffat 37:9
they are repulsed and are under a constant chastisement
Verse 10 — Surah As-Saffat 37:10
Eavesdroppers are persuaded by a flaming fire of piercing brightness
Verse 11 — Surah As-Saffat 37:11
Ask them: "What is more difficult - their creation or the rest of Our creation? - Them We have created out of a sticky clay
Verse 12 — Surah As-Saffat 37:12
You marvel at the wonders of Allah’s creation, while they ridicule at it
Verse 13 — Surah As-Saffat 37:13
When they are admonished, they pay no heed
Verse 14 — Surah As-Saffat 37:14
and when they see a sign, they mock at it
Verse 15 — Surah As-Saffat 37:15
and say: "This is nothing but plain sorcery
Verse 16 — Surah As-Saffat 37:16
What! When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be raised to life again
Verse 17 — Surah As-Saffat 37:17
we and also our forefathers of the ancient time
Verse 18 — Surah As-Saffat 37:18
Tell them: "Yes and you shall be held up to shame
Verse 19 — Surah As-Saffat 37:19
It will be just a single cry, and they will see it all with their own eyes
Verse 20 — Surah As-Saffat 37:20
Ah, woe to us! They shall exclaim, "this is the Day of Judgement
Verse 21 — Surah As-Saffat 37:21
It will be said: "Yes, this is the same Day of Judgement which you used to deny
Verse 22 — Surah As-Saffat 37:22
It will be commanded: "Gather all the wrongdoers, their spouses and those whom they used to worship
Verse 23 — Surah As-Saffat 37:23
besides Allah and show them the way to hell
Verse 24 — Surah As-Saffat 37:24
When they will all be gathered and angels will start pushing them towards hell, Allah shall say: "Stop for a while, they have to be questioned
Verse 25 — Surah As-Saffat 37:25
What is the matter with you today that you do not help each other
Verse 26 — Surah As-Saffat 37:26
Nay! On that Day they shall all be submissive
Verse 27 — Surah As-Saffat 37:27
Some of them will step forward to question one another
Verse 28 — Surah As-Saffat 37:28
The followers will say to their leaders: "It was you who used to come at us from the right hand and forced us towards the wrong way
Verse 29 — Surah As-Saffat 37:29
They will reply: "Nay! But it was you who had no faith
Verse 30 — Surah As-Saffat 37:30
We had no power over you, the fact is that you were an inordinate people
Verse 31 — Surah As-Saffat 37:31
true is the verdict which Our Lord has passed upon us, we shall indeed taste the punishment of our sins
Verse 32 — Surah As-Saffat 37:32
We misled you, for we ourselves were astray
Verse 33 — Surah As-Saffat 37:33
So on that Day they shall all be partners in the punishment
Verse 34 — Surah As-Saffat 37:34
Thus, shall We deal with the criminals
Verse 35 — Surah As-Saffat 37:35
for when they were told: "There is no god except Allah," they used to puff themselves up with pride
Verse 36 — Surah As-Saffat 37:36
and say: "What! Should we give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet
Verse 37 — Surah As-Saffat 37:37
Whereas he had come with the truth and had confirmed the message of prior Messengers
Verse 38 — Surah As-Saffat 37:38
Then it will be said: "You are surely going to taste the painful punishment
Verse 39 — Surah As-Saffat 37:39
and this reward is nothing except what you had done
Verse 40 — Surah As-Saffat 37:40
But the sincere devotees of Allah
Verse 41 — Surah As-Saffat 37:41
shall have familiar sustenance
Verse 42 — Surah As-Saffat 37:42
fruits, and shall be honored
Verse 43 — Surah As-Saffat 37:43
in the gardens of delight
Verse 44 — Surah As-Saffat 37:44
Reclining face to face upon soft couches
Verse 45 — Surah As-Saffat 37:45
they shall be served with goblets filled at a fountain of wine
Verse 46 — Surah As-Saffat 37:46
a crystal-white drink, delicious to those who drink it
Verse 47 — Surah As-Saffat 37:47
It will neither dull their senses nor they will become drunk
Verse 48 — Surah As-Saffat 37:48
And beside them there will be bashful, dark big beautiful-eyed virgins
Verse 49 — Surah As-Saffat 37:49
as if they were delicate eggs closely guarded
Verse 50 — Surah As-Saffat 37:50
Some of them will be asking questions to others
Verse 51 — Surah As-Saffat 37:51
One of them will say: "I had a friend
Verse 52 — Surah As-Saffat 37:52
who used to ask: ‘Are you really of those who affirm (the message of Islam)
Verse 53 — Surah As-Saffat 37:53
When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we ever be brought to judgement?’
Verse 54 — Surah As-Saffat 37:54
It will be said: "Would you like to see him
Verse 55 — Surah As-Saffat 37:55
He will look down and see his friend in the midst of hellfire
Verse 56 — Surah As-Saffat 37:56
Then he will say: "By Allah! You had almost ruined me
Verse 57 — Surah As-Saffat 37:57
Had it not been for the grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those who are brought there
Verse 58 — Surah As-Saffat 37:58
Is it not so that we shall not die
Verse 59 — Surah As-Saffat 37:59
after our first death and that we shall not be chastised
Verse 60 — Surah As-Saffat 37:60
Most surely it is a mighty achievement
Verse 61 — Surah As-Saffat 37:61
For such an end, let every one strive who wishes to strive
Verse 62 — Surah As-Saffat 37:62
Is this a better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum
Verse 63 — Surah As-Saffat 37:63
Surely We have made this tree a trial for the wrongdoers
Verse 64 — Surah As-Saffat 37:64
Surely it is a tree that grows in the bottom of the hellfire
Verse 65 — Surah As-Saffat 37:65
bearing fruits as if they were heads of Satans
Verse 66 — Surah As-Saffat 37:66
on it they shall feed and with it they shall fill their bellies
Verse 67 — Surah As-Saffat 37:67
Then on top of that, they will be given a concoction made from boiling water
Verse 68 — Surah As-Saffat 37:68
Then to hellfire they shall be returned
Verse 69 — Surah As-Saffat 37:69
In fact, they found their fathers on the wrong path
Verse 70 — Surah As-Saffat 37:70
and they are eagerly following their footsteps
Verse 71 — Surah As-Saffat 37:71
Most of the ancients went astray before them
Verse 72 — Surah As-Saffat 37:72
though We had sent Warners to them
Verse 73 — Surah As-Saffat 37:73
See what was the end of those who had been forewarned: they all perished
Verse 74 — Surah As-Saffat 37:74
except the sincere devotees of Allah
Verse 75 — Surah As-Saffat 37:75
Noah prayed to Us; see how excellent was Our response to his prayer
Verse 76 — Surah As-Saffat 37:76
We delivered him and his people from the mighty distress
Verse 77 — Surah As-Saffat 37:77
and made his progeny to be the only survivors
Verse 78 — Surah As-Saffat 37:78
and We left his good name among the later generations
Verse 79 — Surah As-Saffat 37:79
SaLotation to Noah among the people of the worlds
Verse 80 — Surah As-Saffat 37:80
Thus do We reward the righteous
Verse 81 — Surah As-Saffat 37:81
Surely he was one of Our believing devotees
Verse 82 — Surah As-Saffat 37:82
Then the rest We drowned in the great flood
Verse 83 — Surah As-Saffat 37:83
Surely Abraham belonged to the first group
Verse 84 — Surah As-Saffat 37:84
when he came to his Lord with a pure heart
Verse 85 — Surah As-Saffat 37:85
Behold, he said to his father and to his people: "What are these that you worship
Verse 86 — Surah As-Saffat 37:86
Would you serve false gods instead of Allah
Verse 87 — Surah As-Saffat 37:87
What is your idea about the Lord of the worlds
Verse 88 — Surah As-Saffat 37:88
Then he looked at the stars one time
Verse 89 — Surah As-Saffat 37:89
and said "I am feeling sick
Verse 90 — Surah As-Saffat 37:90
So his people left him behind and went away to their national fair
Verse 91 — Surah As-Saffat 37:91
He sneaked into the temple of their gods and addressed them: "Why don’t you eat from these offerings before you
Verse 92 — Surah As-Saffat 37:92
What is the matter with you that you don’t even speak
Verse 93 — Surah As-Saffat 37:93
Then he fell upon them, smiting them with his right hand
Verse 94 — Surah As-Saffat 37:94
The people came running to the scene
Verse 95 — Surah As-Saffat 37:95
Would you worship that which you have carved with your own hands, he said
Verse 96 — Surah As-Saffat 37:96
when Allah is the One Who created you and that which you have made
Verse 97 — Surah As-Saffat 37:97
They said to one another: "Prepare for him a furnace and throw him into the blazing flames
Verse 98 — Surah As-Saffat 37:98
Thus did they scheme against him: but We humiliated them in their scheme
Verse 99 — Surah As-Saffat 37:99
Abraham said: "I am going to take refuge with my Lord, He will surely guide me
Verse 100 — Surah As-Saffat 37:100
O Lord! Grant me a righteous son
Verse 101 — Surah As-Saffat 37:101
So We gave him the good news of a gentle son
Verse 102 — Surah As-Saffat 37:102
When he reached the age to work with him, Abraham said to him: "O my son! I have seen a vision that I should offer you as a sacrifice, now tell me what is your view." He replied: "O my father! Do as you are commanded: you will find me, if Allah so wills, of the patient
Verse 103 — Surah As-Saffat 37:103
And when they both submitted to Allah and Abraham laid down his son prostrate upon his forehead for sacrifice
Verse 104 — Surah As-Saffat 37:104
We called out to him: "O Abraham stop
Verse 105 — Surah As-Saffat 37:105
You have fulfilled your vision." Thus do We reward the righteous
Verse 106 — Surah As-Saffat 37:106
That was indeed a manifest test
Verse 107 — Surah As-Saffat 37:107
We ransomed his son for a great sacrifice
Verse 108 — Surah As-Saffat 37:108
and We left his good name among the later generations
Verse 109 — Surah As-Saffat 37:109
SaLotation to Abraham
Verse 110 — Surah As-Saffat 37:110
Thus We reward the righteous
Verse 111 — Surah As-Saffat 37:111
Surely he was one of Our believing devotees
Verse 112 — Surah As-Saffat 37:112
We gave him the good news of Isaac - a prophet - one of the righteous
Verse 113 — Surah As-Saffat 37:113
We blessed him and Isaac both. Among their progeny there are some who are righteous and some who are clearly doing wrong to their own souls
Verse 114 — Surah As-Saffat 37:114
We bestowed Our favor on Moses and Haroon
Verse 115 — Surah As-Saffat 37:115
We delivered them with all their people from the mighty distress
Verse 116 — Surah As-Saffat 37:116
We helped them so they became victorious
Verse 117 — Surah As-Saffat 37:117
We gave them the Glorious Book (Torah)
Verse 118 — Surah As-Saffat 37:118
and guided them both to the Right Way
Verse 119 — Surah As-Saffat 37:119
We left their good names among the later generations
Verse 120 — Surah As-Saffat 37:120
SaLotation to Moses and Haroon
Verse 121 — Surah As-Saffat 37:121
Thus do We reward the righteous
Verse 122 — Surah As-Saffat 37:122
Surely they were two of Our believing devotees
Verse 123 — Surah As-Saffat 37:123
Ilyas (Elias) was surely one of Our Messengers
Verse 124 — Surah As-Saffat 37:124
Behold, he said to his people: "Have you no fear of Allah
Verse 125 — Surah As-Saffat 37:125
Would you invoke Bal (their invented god) and forsake the best of the Creators
Verse 126 — Surah As-Saffat 37:126
Allah - Who is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers
Verse 127 — Surah As-Saffat 37:127
But they denied him, so they will certainly be called to account
Verse 128 — Surah As-Saffat 37:128
with the exception of sincere devotees of Allah
Verse 129 — Surah As-Saffat 37:129
We left his good name among the later generations
Verse 130 — Surah As-Saffat 37:130
SaLotation to Ilyas
Verse 131 — Surah As-Saffat 37:131
Thus do We reward the righteous
Verse 132 — Surah As-Saffat 37:132
He was surely one of Our believing devotees
Verse 133 — Surah As-Saffat 37:133
Lot was one of Our Messengers
Verse 134 — Surah As-Saffat 37:134
Behold, We delivered him and his whole family
Verse 135 — Surah As-Saffat 37:135
except an old woman who was among those who remained behind
Verse 136 — Surah As-Saffat 37:136
and We destroyed the others
Verse 137 — Surah As-Saffat 37:137
Surely you pass by their ruins by day
Verse 138 — Surah As-Saffat 37:138
and by night. Will you not use your common sense
Verse 139 — Surah As-Saffat 37:139
Jonah was surely one of Our Messengers
Verse 140 — Surah As-Saffat 37:140
When he ran to the laden ship
Verse 141 — Surah As-Saffat 37:141
took part in casting of lots, and was condemned
Verse 142 — Surah As-Saffat 37:142
A whale swallowed him for he had become blameworthy
Verse 143 — Surah As-Saffat 37:143
Had he not repented and became of those who glorify Allah
Verse 144 — Surah As-Saffat 37:144
he would certainly have remained inside its belly till the Day of Resurrection
Verse 145 — Surah As-Saffat 37:145
Then We cast him upon a desolate shore in a state of serious illness
Verse 146 — Surah As-Saffat 37:146
and caused a gourd plant to grow over him
Verse 147 — Surah As-Saffat 37:147
Then We sent him to a nation of one hundred thousand people or more
Verse 148 — Surah As-Saffat 37:148
They believed in him, so We permitted them to enjoy their life for a while
Verse 149 — Surah As-Saffat 37:149
Just ask the unbelievers: Does it make any sense that their Lord should have daughters while they choose to have sons
Verse 150 — Surah As-Saffat 37:150
Or is it that We created the angels as females and they were present at their creation
Verse 151 — Surah As-Saffat 37:151
Surely they invent a lie when they say
Verse 152 — Surah As-Saffat 37:152
Allah has children. They are utter liars
Verse 153 — Surah As-Saffat 37:153
Would He choose daughters rather than sons
Verse 154 — Surah As-Saffat 37:154
What is the matter with you? How do you judge
Verse 155 — Surah As-Saffat 37:155
Will you not take heed
Verse 156 — Surah As-Saffat 37:156
Or do you have any proof of what you are saying
Verse 157 — Surah As-Saffat 37:157
Show us your scriptures if you are truthful
Verse 158 — Surah As-Saffat 37:158
They assert blood- relationship between Him and the jinns; and the jinns know quite well that they will be called to account
Verse 159 — Surah As-Saffat 37:159
Glory be to Allah! He is free from what they ascribe to Him
Verse 160 — Surah As-Saffat 37:160
except His sincere devotees who do not attribute such things to Him
Verse 161 — Surah As-Saffat 37:161
Therefore neither you nor those whom you worship
Verse 162 — Surah As-Saffat 37:162
can deceive anyone about Allah
Verse 163 — Surah As-Saffat 37:163
except him who is destined for hell
Verse 164 — Surah As-Saffat 37:164
The angels in fact say: "We each have our appointed place
Verse 165 — Surah As-Saffat 37:165
We range ourselves in ranks for His service
Verse 166 — Surah As-Saffat 37:166
and we are surely those who declare His glory
Verse 167 — Surah As-Saffat 37:167
Before this, the same disbelievers used to say
Verse 168 — Surah As-Saffat 37:168
If we had received a reminder which the earlier people had received
Verse 169 — Surah As-Saffat 37:169
We certainly would have been sincere devotees of Allah
Verse 170 — Surah As-Saffat 37:170
But now that the Qur’an has come, they reject it: but soon they will find out the consequences of this attitude
Verse 171 — Surah As-Saffat 37:171
We have already promised Our servants whom We sent as Messengers
Verse 172 — Surah As-Saffat 37:172
that they would certainly be helped
Verse 173 — Surah As-Saffat 37:173
and that Our forces will surely be victorious
Verse 174 — Surah As-Saffat 37:174
So give no heed to them for a while
Verse 175 — Surah As-Saffat 37:175
you will see their downfall as they shall see your victory
Verse 176 — Surah As-Saffat 37:176
Do they wish to hurry on Our punishment
Verse 177 — Surah As-Saffat 37:177
But dreadful will be that morning, when it will descend in the courtyards of those who have been forewarned
Verse 178 — Surah As-Saffat 37:178
So pay no heed to them for a while
Verse 179 — Surah As-Saffat 37:179
You will surely see their downfall as they shall see your victory
Verse 180 — Surah As-Saffat 37:180
Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Honor, He is free from what they ascribe to Him
Verse 181 — Surah As-Saffat 37:181
Peace be on the Messengers
Verse 182 — Surah As-Saffat 37:182
and praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds
