Verse 1 — Surah Al-Araf 7:1

Verse 2 — Surah Al-Araf 7:2

This is a Book revealed to you (O Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in your breast, that you may warn the erring thereby, and remind the believers

Verse 3 — Surah Al-Araf 7:3

Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord, and follow not beside Him other patrons; little is it that you remember (of admonition)

Verse 4 — Surah Al-Araf 7:4

Yet how many a town have We destroyed, and Our wrath came upon it by night, or while they slept at noon

Verse 5 — Surah Al-Araf 7:5

And their cry, when Our wrath came upon them, was only to say, "Verily, we were unjust (wrongdoers)

Verse 6 — Surah Al-Araf 7:6

But We will certainly question those to whom the Message was sent and those by whom We sent it

Verse 7 — Surah Al-Araf 7:7

Then We will narrate to them with knowledge, for We were never absent

Verse 8 — Surah Al-Araf 7:8

The balance on that day is true, and those whose scales are heavy, they are the successful

Verse 9 — Surah Al-Araf 7:9

But those whose scales are light, they it is who lose their souls, for that they did act unjustly by Our Signs (revelations, creatures)

Verse 10 — Surah Al-Araf 7:10

We have given you power (authority) in the earth, and provided for you therein the means of self-fulfilment (livelihood, opportunities, resources, faculties); little thanks give ye

Verse 11 — Surah Al-Araf 7:11

It is We who created you, and then gave you Form (shape), then We said unto the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam (do him obeisance)," and they fell prostrate, except Iblis, who was not of those who make prostration (or have humility)

Verse 12 — Surah Al-Araf 7:12

He (Allah) said, "What hinders you from prostration when I command you?" He (Iblis) said, "I am better than he; you have created me from Fire, and him you have created out of Clay

Verse 13 — Surah Al-Araf 7:13

Said He, "Then get you down from this (situation); what ails you that you should be arrogant here? Go forth! Verily, you are of the meanest (the degraded)

Verse 14 — Surah Al-Araf 7:14

He (Iblis) said, "Respite me until the day when they shall be raised

Verse 15 — Surah Al-Araf 7:15

He (Allah) said, "Verily, you are of those given respite

Verse 16 — Surah Al-Araf 7:16

He (Iblis) said, "For that Thou hast led me into error, I will lie in wait for them (ambush them) in Thy Straight Way

Verse 17 — Surah Al-Araf 7:17

Then I will surely come to them, from before them and from behind them; and most of them you shall not find thankful

Verse 18 — Surah Al-Araf 7:18

He said, "Go forth here from, despised, expelled. Whoever follows you, I will surely fill hell with you all

Verse 19 — Surah Al-Araf 7:19

But, O Adam, dwell you and your wife in Paradise and eat from whence you will, but draw not nigh unto this Tree or you will be of the unjust (transgressors)

Verse 20 — Surah Al-Araf 7:20

Then Satan whispered to them (planted suggestions in their minds) to display to them what was kept back from them of their shame (they felt shame or guilt for the first time), and he said, "your Lord has only forbidden you this tree lest you should b

Verse 21 — Surah Al-Araf 7:21

And he swore to them both, "Verily, I am unto you a sincere adviser

Verse 22 — Surah Al-Araf 7:22

And so he beguiled them by deceit. And when the twain had tasted of the Tree, their shame was manifested unto them, and they began to sew upon themselves the leaves of the Garden (to hide their shame, nakedness. rebelliousness or sinfulness) And their Lor

Verse 23 — Surah Al-Araf 7:23

They said, "O our Lord! We have wronged our own souls - and if you do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we shall surely be of those who are lost

Verse 24 — Surah Al-Araf 7:24

He said, "Go you down, each one of you an enemy to the other. In the earth will be your abode, and a provision for a season

Verse 25 — Surah Al-Araf 7:25

He said, "Therein shall you live and therein shall you die, from it shall you be brought forth at last

Verse 26 — Surah Al-Araf 7:26

O children of Adam! We have revealed to you garments wherewith to cover your shame, and adornments (ornaments, embellishments, enhancements); but the garment of righteousness (restraint from evil), that is best. That is one of the Signs of Allah, per chan

Verse 27 — Surah Al-Araf 7:27

O children of Adam! Let not Satan infatuate you as he drove your parents out of Paradise, stripping from them their garments, and exposing for them their shame; verily, he watches you, he and his tribe, from whence you cannot see them. Verily, We have mad

Verse 28 — Surah Al-Araf 7:28

And when they commit an abomination (shameful things) they say, "We found our fathers at this, and Allah bade us do it." Say, " Nay, Allah bids you not to do abominations (shameful things); do you say against Allah that which you know not

Verse 29 — Surah Al-Araf 7:29

Say, "My Lord commands only justice: - set your faces steadfastly at every place of worship and call upon Him, making religion (or your way of life) pure for Him only. As He brought you forth in the beginning, so shall you return unto Him

Verse 30 — Surah Al-Araf 7:30

A section is led by His guidance, while error has just hold on another, for, verily, they did take the devils for their patrons instead of Allah, and deemed that they were guided

Verse 31 — Surah Al-Araf 7:31

O children of Adam! Take your adornments (clothes, grooming, manners, etiquette etc.) to every place of worship and eat and drink, but do not be extravagant (wasteful), for He loves not the extravagant (wasteful)

Verse 32 — Surah Al-Araf 7:32

Say, "Who has prohibited the beautiful adornments (gifts) of Allah which He brought forth for His servants, and the good things He has provided?" Say, "On the Day (of Resurrection and Judgment) they shall only be for those who believed when

Verse 33 — Surah Al-Araf 7:33

Say, "My Lord has only forbidden abominable (shameful) deeds, the apparent and the concealed, and sin (errors), and greed for that which is not right (trespasses against truth and reason), and associating with Allah that for (or to) which He has give

Verse 34 — Surah Al-Araf 7:34

Every nation (or community) has its appointed term, and when their appointed term is completed they cannot delay it an hour, nor can they advance it

Verse 35 — Surah Al-Araf 7:35

O children of Adam! Verily, there will come to you Messengers from amongst you, narrating unto you My Signs; then whoever fears Allah (refrains from evil) and does what is right (makes amends), there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve

Verse 36 — Surah Al-Araf 7:36

But those who reject Our Signs, and who are arrogant, these are the Fellows of the Fire, they shall dwell therein

Verse 37 — Surah Al-Araf 7:37

Who is more unjust than he who devises a lie against Allah, and scorns His Signs (or revelations)? For such, their portion of the Book (of Destiny) shall reach them, until, when Our Messengers come to take their souls away, and say, "Where is now wha

Verse 38 — Surah Al-Araf 7:38

He will say, "Enter you the Fire amongst the nations (communities) who have passed away before you - both of jinn and men." Whenever a nation (community) enters therein, it curses its sister (nation, community); until, when they have followed ea

Verse 39 — Surah Al-Araf 7:39

Then the first will say to the last, "You have no preference (advantage) over us (or were no better than us), so taste you the penalty for that which you have earned

Verse 40 — Surah Al-Araf 7:40

Verily, those who deny and scorn Our Signs in arrogance, for these the doors of heaven shall not be opened, nor shall they enter into the Garden, until a camel can pass through the eye of a needle. Such is Our reward for the guilty. (Compare with MatthewM)

For them is Hell, as a couch below them and coverings above them! Thus do We reward the unjust

Verse 42 — Surah Al-Araf 7:42

But those who believe and do what is right - We will not oblige a soul with more than it´s capacity - they are the companions of the Garden; they shall dwell therein

Verse 43 — Surah Al-Araf 7:43

We will strip away what rancour (ill feeling) is in their breasts. There shall flow beneath them Rivers, and they shall say, "Praise belongs to Allah who guided us to this! For we should not have been led aright had not Allah guided us! Verily, the M

And the Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire, "We have now found that what our Lord promised us is true; have you also found that what your Lord promised you is true?" They will say, "Yea!" And a crier f

Verse 45 — Surah Al-Araf 7:45

Who turn (or hinder) from the way of Allah and crave to make it crooked, and disbelieved in the Last Day (or the Hereafter)

Verse 46 — Surah Al-Araf 7:46

And betwixt the two (Hell and Paradise) there is a veil, and on the Heights are men (exalted or able men) who know each by their marks; and they greet the companions of the Garden, "Peace be upon you!" They enter it not though they hope (or desi)

Verse 47 — Surah Al-Araf 7:47

But when their sight is turned towards the Companions of the Fire, they say, "Our Lord! Place us not with the unjust people

Verse 48 — Surah Al-Araf 7:48

And the Companions of the Height will call out to the men whom they know by their marks, and say, "Of what profit to you were your hoarding (of wealth), and what you were so arrogant about

Verse 49 — Surah Al-Araf 7:49

Behold, are these others not those of whom you swore, that Allah would not extend mercy? But it is said to them "Enter you Paradise; there is no fear for you, nor shall you be grieved

Verse 50 — Surah Al-Araf 7:50

But the Companions of the Fire cry out to the Companions of the Garden, "Pour out upon us water, or something of what Allah has provided you with (for sustenance, benefit or comfort)." They will say, "Allah has forbidden them both to those

Verse 51 — Surah Al-Araf 7:51

Such who took their religion for an amusement, sport and a pastime; who were beguiled by the life of the world." This day have We forget them as they forgot the meeting of this Day, and because they did deny Our Signs

Verse 52 — Surah Al-Araf 7:52

Now We have brought them a Book explaining it with knowledge, a guidance and a mercy to a people who believe

Verse 53 — Surah Al-Araf 7:53

Do they just wait now for its fulfilment (or interpretation)? On the day when its fulfilment shall come, those who forgot it before will say, "Indeed, there did come to us the Messenger of our Lord in truth. Have we no intercessors now to intercede f

Verse 54 — Surah Al-Araf 7:54

Verily, your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days; then mounted He the Throne (of Authority and Power). He covers night with the day - it pursues it incessantly- and the sun and the moon and the stars are subject to His command

Verse 55 — Surah Al-Araf 7:55

Call on your Lord humbly and secretly, verily, He loves not the aggressors (the arrogant, the transgressors)

Verse 56 — Surah Al-Araf 7:56

Work not confusion (chaos, mischief or evil) in the earth after it has been rightly ordered, and call upon Him with fear and hope (longing and earnestness); for, verily, the mercy of Allah is nigh unto those who do well

Verse 57 — Surah Al-Araf 7:57

He it is who sends forth the winds like tidings heralding His mercy; until when they lift the heavy cloud which We drive to a dead land, and send down thereon water, and, thereby, bring forth every kind of fruit; - Thus do We bring forth the dead; per cha

Verse 58 — Surah Al-Araf 7:58

And the good land brings forth its vegetation by the permission of its Lord; and that which is vile brings forth naught but sparsity (bad with little good). Thus do We expound Our signs for a people who are grateful

Verse 59 — Surah Al-Araf 7:59

We did send Noah unto his people, and he said, "O my people I serve Allah; you have no God but Him; verily, I fear for you the torment of the mighty (awful) Day

Verse 60 — Surah Al-Araf 7:60

Said the chiefs of his people, "Verily, we do surely see you in obvious error

Verse 61 — Surah Al-Araf 7:61

Said he, "O my people! There is no error in me; but I am a Messenger from the Lord of the Worlds

Verse 62 — Surah Al-Araf 7:62

I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I give you sincere advice; and I know from Allah what you know not

Verse 63 — Surah Al-Araf 7:63

Marvel you that there should come unto you a Reminder from your Lord by a man from amongst you, to warn you, that you may fear evil, and that per chance (or possibly) you may receive mercy

Verse 64 — Surah Al-Araf 7:64

But they called him a liar, and We rescued him and those who were with him in the ark; and We drowned those who denied Our Signs. Verily, they were a blind people

Verse 65 — Surah Al-Araf 7:65

And unto the people of Ad (we sent) their brother Hud, who said, "O my people! Serve Allah; you have no God save Him; What! Will you not then fear evil

Verse 66 — Surah Al-Araf 7:66

The chiefs of his people, who disbelieved, said, "Verily, we see you in folly, and, verily, we certainly think you are of the liars

Verse 67 — Surah Al-Araf 7:67

He said, "O my people! There is no folly in me; but I am a Messenger from the Lord of the Worlds

Verse 68 — Surah Al-Araf 7:68

I convey to you the messages of your Lord; and, verily, I am to you a faithful adviser

Verse 69 — Surah Al-Araf 7:69

Marvel you then that there comes to you a Reminder from your Lord by a man from amongst you, to warn you? Remember when He made you vicegerents (or inheritors) after Noah´s people, and gave you growth of stature (prosperity, honour, excellence). Rem

They said, "Have you come to us that we may serve Allah alone, and forsake what our fathers used to worship? Then bring upon us what you threaten us with, if you are truthful

Verse 71 — Surah Al-Araf 7:71

He said, "Already have fallen upon you from your Lord terror and wrath; do you wrangle with me about names, which you and your fathers have named yourselves, for which Allah sent down no warrant. Then wait expectant, lo! I, too, am of those waiting w

Verse 72 — Surah Al-Araf 7:72

But We rescued him and those with him, by Our Mercy, and We cut off the roots of those who rejected Our signs and did not believe

Verse 73 — Surah Al-Araf 7:73

Unto the people of Thamud We sent Salih, one of their own brethren. He said, "O my people! Serve (or worship) Allah; you have no God but Him. There has come to you a manifest Sign from your Lord. This is Allah´s she-camel, a sign (or test) unto

Verse 74 — Surah Al-Araf 7:74

And remember how he made you vicegerents (agents, inheritors) after Ad and established you in the earth so that you took for yourselves castles on its plains and hewed out mountains into houses. So remember the bounties of Allah, and waste not the land, d

Verse 75 — Surah Al-Araf 7:75

The chiefs from amongst his people, those who were inflated with pride, said to those whom they despised, those amongst them who believed, "Know you that Salih is sent from his Lord?" They said, "We do believe in that with which he is sent

Verse 76 — Surah Al-Araf 7:76

The arrogant scornfully said, "Verily, we disbelieve in what you believe

Verse 77 — Surah Al-Araf 7:77

Then they did hamstring the she-camel, and rebelled against the commandment of their Lord and said, "O Salih! Bring upon us what you did threaten us with, if you are of those who are sent

Verse 78 — Surah Al-Araf 7:78

Then the earthquake seized them, and in the morning they lay prone in their dwellings

Verse 79 — Surah Al-Araf 7:79

And Salih turned away from them and said, "O my people! I did deliver unto you the message of my Lord, and I gave you good advice; but you love not sincere advisers

Verse 80 — Surah Al-Araf 7:80

And (remember) Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you approach an abomination which no creature ever did before you

Verse 81 — Surah Al-Araf 7:81

Verily, you approach men with lust instead of women. Nay, you are a people who far exceed the bounds

Verse 82 — Surah Al-Araf 7:82

But his people´s answer was only to say, "Turn them out of your communities. Verily, they are a people who strive to purity

Verse 83 — Surah Al-Araf 7:83

But We saved him and his people, except his wife, who was of those who lagged behind

Verse 84 — Surah Al-Araf 7:84

And We rained down upon them a shower (of brimstone); - see then the nature of the consequences for sinners

Verse 85 — Surah Al-Araf 7:85

And unto Median did We send their brother Shu´eyb (Jethro?), who said, "O my people! Serve Allah; you have no God save Him. There has come to you a manifest Sign from your Lord. So give good weight and full measure, and be not niggardly of your

Verse 86 — Surah Al-Araf 7:86

And lurk not in every path, threatening (and corrupting) and hindering from the path of Allah those who believe in Him, craving to make it crooked. Remember when you were few (small or weak) and He multiplied (increased, strengthened) you; and see w

And if there be a party of you who believe in what I am sent with, and a party who believe not, then wait patiently until Allah judges between us, for He is the best of Judges

The chieftains of his people, inflated with arrogance said, "We will of a surety turn you out, O Shu´heyb, and those who believe with you, from our communities, unless you return unto our faith." Said he, "What! Even if we be averse t

Verse 89 — Surah Al-Araf 7:89

We shall have devised a lie against Allah if we return unto your faith, after Allah has saved us from it; and what should ail us that we should return thereto, unless that Allah our Lord should please? Our Lord is All-comprehending in His knowledge

Verse 90 — Surah Al-Araf 7:90

But the chiefs of those who disbelieved amongst his people said, "If you follow Shu´eyb, verily, you shall be the losers

Verse 91 — Surah Al-Araf 7:91

So the earthquake seized them, and in the morning they lay prone in their dwellings

Verse 92 — Surah Al-Araf 7:92

Those who denied Shu´eyb, became as though they had not dwelt there! - Those who had denied Shu´eyb, they were the losers

Verse 93 — Surah Al-Araf 7:93

And he turned away from them and said, "O my people! I delivered unto you the messages of my Lord, and I gave you good advice; how should I be vexed for a people who disbelieve

Verse 94 — Surah Al-Araf 7:94

We have not sent unto a community any prophet but We inflicted the people thereof with tribulation (suffering, distress) and adversity, that per chance (or possibly) they might humble themselves

Verse 95 — Surah Al-Araf 7:95

And then did We exchanged good for evil (suffering for prosperity), until they grew (in strength and prosperity) and said, "Our fathers, too, were touched by both suffering and joy." Then We overtook them suddenly ere they realized their peril

Verse 96 — Surah Al-Araf 7:96

Had the people of the town but believed and feared, We would have opened up for them blessings from the heavens and from the earth; but they said it was a lie, so We overcame them for that which they had earned

Verse 97 — Surah Al-Araf 7:97

Were, then, the people of these cities secure that Our Wrath would not come on them by night, while they slept

Verse 98 — Surah Al-Araf 7:98

Were the people of these cities secure that Our Wrath would not come on them in the morning whilst they played carefree

Verse 99 — Surah Al-Araf 7:99

Were they secure from the Plan of Allah? None deems himself secure from the Plan of Allah except a people that are doomed to perish

Verse 100 — Surah Al-Araf 7:100

Is it not a guidance (lesson) shown to those who inherit the earth after its (former) people, that, did We please, We would smite them in their sins, and would set a stamp upon their heart that they should not hear

Verse 101 — Surah Al-Araf 7:101

Such were these cities. We do relate to you their stories. There came to them Our Messengers with manifest Signs; but they would not believe because of what they had rejected before. Thus does Allah seal up their heart of those who disbelieve

Verse 102 — Surah Al-Araf 7:102

Nor did We find most of them true to their covenant; but We did find most of them workers of abomination

Verse 103 — Surah Al-Araf 7:103

Then We raised up after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his chiefs; but they dealt unjustly with them. So see what was the consequence for these evildoers (corrupters, mischief-makers)

Verse 104 — Surah Al-Araf 7:104

Moses said, "O Pharaoh! Verily, I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds

Verse 105 — Surah Al-Araf 7:105

One, for whom it is not right to speak against Allah aught but the truth. I have come to you with a manifest sign from my Lord. Send, then, the children of Israel with me

Verse 106 — Surah Al-Araf 7:106

Said he (Pharaoh), "If you have come with a Sign, then bring it, if you are truthful

Verse 107 — Surah Al-Araf 7:107

Then he (Moses) threw his rod down, and lo! It was a manifest serpent

Verse 108 — Surah Al-Araf 7:108

And he drew out his hand, and lo! It was white to the beholders

Verse 109 — Surah Al-Araf 7:109

Said the chiefs of Pharaoh´s people, "Verily, this is surely a knowing (expert) magician

Verse 110 — Surah Al-Araf 7:110

He desires to turn you out of your land. What is it, then, your advise

Verse 111 — Surah Al-Araf 7:111

They said, "Delay him and his brother, and send summoners into the cities

Verse 112 — Surah Al-Araf 7:112

To bring unto you every knowing (expert) magician

Verse 113 — Surah Al-Araf 7:113

And the magician came to Pharaoh and said, "Is there, indeed, a reward for us if we are victors

Verse 114 — Surah Al-Araf 7:114

He answered, "Yea! And you shall be of those who are brought nigh unto me (given high posts, ranks or honour)

Verse 115 — Surah Al-Araf 7:115

They said, "O Moses! Will you cast down (your rod) or shall we be (first) to throw

Verse 116 — Surah Al-Araf 7:116

Said he, "Throw first". And when they threw down their rods, they bewitched (hypnotized) the people´s eyes, and struck terror into them, for they did a mighty magic

Verse 117 — Surah Al-Araf 7:117

But We inspired Moses (saying), "Throw down your rod." and it swallowed up their lying show

Verse 118 — Surah Al-Araf 7:118

And the truth stood fast, and vain was that which they had done

Verse 119 — Surah Al-Araf 7:119

Thus were they vanquished there, and turned back humiliated

Verse 120 — Surah Al-Araf 7:120

And the magicians threw themselves down in prostration

Verse 121 — Surah Al-Araf 7:121

Said they, "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds

Verse 122 — Surah Al-Araf 7:122

The Lord of Moses and Aaron

Verse 123 — Surah Al-Araf 7:123

Said Pharaoh, "Do you believe in him ere I give you permission? This is a plot which you have devised in the land, to drive its people hence. But soon shall you know (the consequences)

Verse 124 — Surah Al-Araf 7:124

I will cut off your hands and your feet from opposite sides, then I will crucify you every one

Verse 125 — Surah Al-Araf 7:125

They said, "Verily, we return unto our Lord

Verse 126 — Surah Al-Araf 7:126

Do you take vengeance on us because we believe in the signs of our Lord, when they come to us. Our Lord! Pour out upon us patience and constancy, and take us to Thyself as men who have surrendered (become Muslims)

Verse 127 — Surah Al-Araf 7:127

And the chiefs of Pharaoh´s people said, "(O King) Will you leave Moses and his people to do mischief in the land, and to flout you and your gods?" Said he, "We will have their sons slain and their women we will spare, for, verily, we

Moses said unto his people, "Seek help from Allah and have endurance. Verily, the earth is Allah´s! He gives it for an inheritance to whom He pleases of His servants, and the future is for those who fear (keep their duty and are righteous).&quo

They said, "We suffered before you did come to us, and also since you have come to us." Said he, "It may be that your Lord will destroy your foe, and will make you vicegerents (inheritors, successors) in the earth, that He may see how you b

We punished Pharaoh´s people with the years (of drought) and scarcity of fruit or crops), that per chance (or possibly) they might remember

Verse 131 — Surah Al-Araf 7:131

But whenever good (times) came to them they said, "This is due to our effort." And if evil befell them, they ascribed it to the evil influences of Moses and those with him. Surely, the evil influence is only in the hands of Allah. But most of th

And they said, "Whatever Sign you bring to enchant us, we will not put faith in you

Verse 133 — Surah Al-Araf 7:133

So We sent upon them the flood and the locusts and the vermin and the frogs and the blood, - a succession of clear Signs. But they were inflated with arrogance, a guilty people

Verse 134 — Surah Al-Araf 7:134

And when there fell upon them the plague, they said, "O Moses! Call upon your Lord for us, as He has covenanted with you. Verily, if you do remove the plague from us, we will put our trust in you; and we will assuredly let the children of Israel go w

Verse 135 — Surah Al-Araf 7:135

But when We removed the penalty from them, according to an appointed term which they had to fulfil, lo! then they broke their promise

Verse 136 — Surah Al-Araf 7:136

But We took retribution from them, and We drowned them in the sea because they rejected Our Signs, and were careless thereof

Verse 137 — Surah Al-Araf 7:137

And We gave unto a people, despised and weak, an inheritance, lands in both east and west, lands which We had blessed. And the good promise of your Lord was fulfiled on the children of Israel, because they were patient and constant. And We utterly destroy

Verse 138 — Surah Al-Araf 7:138

And We passed the children of Israel safely across the sea. They came upon a people devoted to their idols, and said, "O Moses! Make for us a god as the gods they have." Said he, "Verily, you are ignorant people

Verse 139 — Surah Al-Araf 7:139

Verily, these people- destroyed shall be their way, and vain is that which they are doing

Verse 140 — Surah Al-Araf 7:140

He said, "Shall I seek for you a god other than Allah, when He has preferred you above all creatures

And (remember) when We saved you from Pharaoh´s people who wrought you evil woe, slaying your sons, and sparing your women. In that was a mighty trial from your Lord

And We appointed for Moses thirty nights (of solitude), and added ten (more), and he completed the time appointed by his Lord for forty nights. And Moses said unto his brother Aaron, "Act for me amongst my people, and do what is right, and follow not

And when Moses came to Our appointment, and his Lord spoke unto him, he said, "O my Lord! Show me Thyself, that I may look on Thee!" Allah said, "Thou canst not see Me; but look upon the mountain. If it remains steady in its place, you have

Verse 144 — Surah Al-Araf 7:144

He said, "O Moses! Verily, I have chosen you over the people with My messages and My words. Take then what I have brought you, and be of the thankful

Verse 145 — Surah Al-Araf 7:145

And We wrote for him upon Tablets, admonitions, commanding and explaining everything, and said, "Hold fast to them, and bid your people take the best course, made clear therein. I will show you the abode of those who work abominations

I will turn from My revelations those who wrongfully magnify themselves with pride in the earth; and though they see every Sign, they shall not believe therein, and if they see the path of rectitude they shall not take it for their path; but if they see t

But those who deny Our revelations (or Signs) and the meeting of the Hereafter, in vain are their works. Shall they be rewarded save for that which they have done

But when they bit their hands (in realization and fear) and saw that they had gone astray, they said, "Verily, if our Lord have not compassion on us and forgive us we shall surely be of those who are lost

And when Moses returned unto his people angry and grieved, he said, "Evil is it that which you have done after I had gone! Would you hasten on the judgment of your Lord?". And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by the (hair on his)

Verse 151 — Surah Al-Araf 7:151

Moses prayed, "O Lord! Forgive my brother and me and let us enter into Thy mercy; for Thou art the most merciful of the merciful

Verse 152 — Surah Al-Araf 7:152

Verily, those who have taken to themselves a calf, there shall reach them wrath from their Lord, and abasement in the life of this world; for thus do we reward those who forge a lie

Verse 153 — Surah Al-Araf 7:153

But those who have done bad works, and then turn again after them and believe - verily, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful

Verse 154 — Surah Al-Araf 7:154

And when Moses´ wrath calmed down he took up the Tables, in the inscription of which was guidance and mercy for those who fear their Lord

And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment; and when the earthquake took them he prayed, "O my Lord! Had you willed, you could have destroyed both them and me before this. Will Thou destroy us for what the fools amongst us have d

And ordain for us good in this world, and in the Hereafter too; verily, we are guided unto Thee." He said, "With My punishment, I fall on whom I will; but My mercy embraces everything; and I will ordain it for those who do right, and practice ch

Verse 157 — Surah Al-Araf 7:157

Those who follow the Messenger - the unlettered Prophet - whom they find mentioned in their own Law and Gospel. (Deuteronomy18 and Johnbidding them what is just (reasonable) and forbidding them what is wrong (evil, unreasonable, stupid); and making lawful

Say, "O you people! Verily, I am the Messenger of Allah unto you all, of Him whose is the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, there is no God but He! He gives life and death. So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered (or not learned, un)

Amongst the people of Moses is a section who guide with truth, and thereby act justly

Verse 160 — Surah Al-Araf 7:160

And We divided them into twelve tribes, nation; and We inspired Moses, when his people asked him for water, saying, "Strike the rock with your staff!" and there gushed forth from it twelve springs, so that each tribe knew their drinking place. A

And when it was said unto them, "Dwell in this city and eat there from (enjoy its facilities) as you will, and say "Repentance" and enter the gate prostrate (in humility); so will We forgive you your sins; We will increase (the portion or r)

But those amongst them who did wrong changed the words given them for another saying; and We sent upon them a wrath from heaven for that they were unjust (or transgressed)

Ask them, too, about the city which stood by the sea, how they broke the Sabbath; how on the Sabbath day the fish came straight up to them; but on the days when they kept not the Sabbath, they came not to them. Thus did We try them for the evil that they

Verse 164 — Surah Al-Araf 7:164

And when a community from amongst them said, "Why do you warn a people whom Allah would destroy, or punish with severe torment?" they said, "In order to do our duty to our Lord, that per chance (or possibly) they may fear (evil)

Verse 165 — Surah Al-Araf 7:165

But when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We saved those who forbade evil, and We overtook those who did wrong with grievous punishment because they transgressed

Verse 166 — Surah Al-Araf 7:166

But when they rebelled against what they were forbidden, We said to them, "Become you as apes, despised and spurned

Verse 167 — Surah Al-Araf 7:167

And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed that He would surely raise against them till the Day of Resurrection, those who would lay on them grievous torment. Verily, your Lord is quick in retribution, but verily, He is also Forgiving, Merciful

Verse 168 — Surah Al-Araf 7:168

We broke them up into sections in the earth. Among them are some who are righteous, and among them are those who are the opposite. We have tried them with good things and with bad things, that per chance (or possibly) they may return (to Us)

But after them a generation succeeded them who inherited the Book (Scriptures)! They chose the vanities of this lower world, saying, "Everything will be forgiven us." But if similar vanities came to them again they would seize them too! Was ther

But those who hold fast by the Book and are steadfast in prayer - verily, We will not waste the wages of those who do right

Verse 171 — Surah Al-Araf 7:171

And when We shook the mountain over them, as though it were a covering, and they thought it would fall upon them, We said, "Take you what We have given you with firmness, and remember what is therein; per chance (or possibly) you may fear Allah

Verse 172 — Surah Al-Araf 7:172

And when your Lord drew forth from the children of Adam, out of their loins, their seed (or descendants), and made them testify about themselves, "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yea! We do bear witness" - lest you should say on the D

Verse 173 — Surah Al-Araf 7:173

Or say, "Verily, our fathers associated others with Allah before us, and we were but their seed after them. Will you then destroy us for the futile deeds of the doers of futility (or vanities)

Verse 174 — Surah Al-Araf 7:174

Thus do We explain the Signs that per chance (or possibly) they may return (or turn to Us)

Verse 175 — Surah Al-Araf 7:175

Read to them the declaration of him to whom We brought our Signs, and who stepped away there from, and Satan followed him, and he became one of those who lead (tempt or are tempted to go) astray

Verse 176 — Surah Al-Araf 7:176

Had We pleased We would have exalted him thereby (with Our Signs), but he clung to the earth and followed his own lust, and his likeness was as the likeness of a dog, whom if you should attack he hangs out his tongue, or if you should leave him, hangs out

Verse 177 — Surah Al-Araf 7:177

Evil is the likeness of a people who deny Our revelations (or Signs) and wrong their own souls

Verse 178 — Surah Al-Araf 7:178

He whom Allah leads, he indeed is led aright, while he whom Allah sends astray, they are indeed losers

Verse 179 — Surah Al-Araf 7:179

We have created for hell many of the Jinn and of Mankind; they have heart and they discern not therewith; they have eyes and they see not therewith; they have ears and they hear not therewith; they are like cattle, nay, more misguided, for they are heedle

Verse 180 — Surah Al-Araf 7:180

But Allah belong the most beautiful names; call on Him then thereby, and leave those who pervert (profane or blaspheme against) His names. They shall be rewarded for that which they have done

Verse 181 — Surah Al-Araf 7:181

And of those whom We have created is a people who are guided with the truth and establish justice therewith

Verse 182 — Surah Al-Araf 7:182

But they who deny Our revelations We will bring them down by degrees from whence they know not

Verse 183 — Surah Al-Araf 7:183

I give them rein, for verily, my scheme is effective

Verse 184 — Surah Al-Araf 7:184

Do they not then reflect that their companion is not possessed? He is but a perspicuous Warner

Verse 185 — Surah Al-Araf 7:185

Do they not behold the kingdoms of the heavens and of the earth, and what things Allah has created, and (see that), it may well be that their term is already drawing to its end? In what after this then will they believe

Verse 186 — Surah Al-Araf 7:186

He whom Allah leads astray there is no guide for him! He leaves them blindly wandering in their rebellion

Verse 187 — Surah Al-Araf 7:187

They will ask you about the (final) Hour, for what time it is fixed? - Say, "The knowledge thereof is only with my Lord; none shall manifest it at its time but He. Heavy is its burden in the heavens and the earth. It will come to you suddenly and una

Say, "For myself I have no power to benefit, nor power to harm, save what Allah will. Had I knowledge of the Unseen I should surely have multiplied all that is good, and no adversity would touch me; I am but a Warner and a herald of good tidings unto

He it is who created you from a single soul, and made there from its mate to dwell with her (in comfort and love); and when he covered her she bore a light burden, and went about therewith (unnoticed); but when it grew heavy they cried unto Allah, their L

But when He gave them both a well-formed child, they joined partners with Him with respect to that which He had given them. But Allah is exalted above that which they associate with Him

Verse 191 — Surah Al-Araf 7:191

Will they associate with Him those who cannot create aught, but are themselves created

Verse 192 — Surah Al-Araf 7:192

And have no power to help them, nor can even help themselves

Verse 193 — Surah Al-Araf 7:193

But if you call them unto guidance they follow you not. It is all the same to them if you call them or if you hold your tongue

Verse 194 — Surah Al-Araf 7:194

Those whom you call on other than Allah are servants like yourselves. Call on them then, and let them answer you, if you are truthful

Verse 195 — Surah Al-Araf 7:195

Have they feet to walk with? Or have they hands to hold with? Or have they eyes to see with? Or have they ears to hear with? Say, Call upon your (supposed) partners (of Allah); then plot against me, and spare me not

Verse 196 — Surah Al-Araf 7:196

Verily, my patron (or protecting friend) is Allah, who reveals the Book, and He is the Friend of the righteous

Verse 197 — Surah Al-Araf 7:197

But those whom you call on beside Him have no power to help you, nor can they help themselves

Verse 198 — Surah Al-Araf 7:198

But if you call them unto the guidance, they hear not. You will see them looking at you, yet they see not

Verse 199 — Surah Al-Araf 7:199

Hold to forgiveness, and command what is kind, and shun the ignorant

Verse 200 — Surah Al-Araf 7:200

And if an incitement from the devil wound you, then seek refuge in Allah: verily, He is Hearer and Knower

Verse 201 — Surah Al-Araf 7:201

Verily, those who fear Allah, if a temptation (suggestion, whisper) from the devil touches (assaults, troubles) them, they do but remember (or mention) Him, and lo! They see (realise)

Verse 202 — Surah Al-Araf 7:202

And their brethren he shall increase in error, then they shall not desist

Verse 203 — Surah Al-Araf 7:203

If you bring them not a verse (of revelation) they say, "Have you not yet made choice of one? Say, "I only follow what is inspired in me by my Lord. These are lights (perceptions, insights) from your Lord, and a guidance and a mercy to a people

Verse 204 — Surah Al-Araf 7:204

And when the Quran is read, then listen thereto with attention, and keep silence, that per chance (or possibly) you may obtain mercy

Verse 205 — Surah Al-Araf 7:205

And remember your Lord within yourself humbly and with awe, below your breath, in the morning and in the evening; and be not of those who are neglectful (or unheedful)

Verily, they who are with your Lord are not too big with pride (arrogant) for His service, but they praise and bow before Him in adoration
