Verse 1 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:1

Alif Lam Ra. These are Verses of the Book and it is a clear Qur'aan (Reader)

Verse 2 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:2

Those who suppress the Truth shall frequently wish that they had been Muslims (submitters to divine Will)

Verse 3 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:3

Leave them free to eat and enjoy, and let desire distract them. They will soon know

Verse 4 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:4

And never did We destroy any population, but only when it had reached its known destiny

Verse 5 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:5

No people can prepone their end nor can they postpone it

Verse 6 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:6

And they say, "O you to whom the Reminder (Qur'aan) has been revealed! You are indeed mad

Verse 7 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:7

Why do you not bring to us the angels if what you claim is true

Verse 8 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:8

We do not send the angels but only when necessary (to destroy wicked persons, for instance), and then they would not be given any respite

Verse 9 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:9

Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder (Qur'aan) and indeed We are most certainly guardians to it

Verse 10 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:10

And We did certainly send Messengers, before you, among the earlier generations

Verse 11 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:11

And never did a Messenger come to them but they mocked him

Verse 12 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:12

Thus do We make it (making a mockery of a Messenger) enter the hearts of the sinners

Verse 13 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:13

They believe not in it (the divine Message brought by the Messenger), just as the earlier peoples, that passed away, did not believe (in the divine Messages brought to them by Messengers sent to them)

Verse 14 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:14

And they won't believe, even if We open to them a gateway into the sky above, and they keep on ascending thereinto

Verse 15 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:15

They would still only say, "Our sights.are dazed. Nay, we are a people bewitched

Verse 16 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:16

And certainly We have made constellations in the skies above and We have made it look beautiful for the beholders

Verse 17 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:17

And We have guarded it against every accursed Satan

Verse 18 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:18

Except that a visible flame follows the one that manages to steal a celestial secret

Verse 19 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:19

And We have spread out the earth and cast mountains into it. And We have caused every appropriate thing to grow in it

Verse 20 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:20

And We have created in it means of subsistence for you, and for him whom you do not provide for

Verse 21 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:21

And there is nothing of which We do not have treasures with us. And We do not send it down but in a measured quantity

Verse 22 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:22

And We send the winds that facilitate pollination, and then send down water from the sky for you to drink. And it is not in your power to store it up

Verse 23 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:23

And indeed it is We Who give life and cause death. And We are the heirs

Verse 24 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:24

And We do certainly know those of you who have preceded and We do certainly know those who would follow

Verse 25 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:25

And your Lord will indeed gather them together. He is indeed Wise, Knowledgeable

Verse 26 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:26

And certainly We created man of clay, of moulded mud

Verse 27 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:27

And the jinn We created before, of radiating fire

Verse 28 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:28

And your Lord said to the angels, "I am going to create a man of clay, of moulded mud

Verse 29 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:29

So when I give him a proper form and breathe into him of My Rooh, get down to your knees prostrating."h

Verse 30 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:30

So the angels prostrated — all of them together

Verse 31 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:31

Except Iblees — he refused to be with those who prostrated

Verse 32 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:32

Allah asked, "O Iblees! What excuses have you that you are not with those who prostrated

Verse 33 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:33

Iblees said, "I am not the one to prostrate to a man whom You have created of clay, of moulded mud

Verse 34 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:34

Allah said, "Then get out of here! You are indeed damned

Verse 35 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:35

And indeed the curse is on you till the Judgment Day

Verse 36 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:36

He said, "My Lord! Then give me respite till the time when they are raised

Verse 37 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:37

Allah said, "You are granted the respite

Verse 38 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:38

For the appointed period

Verse 39 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:39

He said, "My Lord! As You have made me deviate from the right way, I will certainly keep them enthralled in the earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate

Verse 40 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:40

Except for those among them who worship you devotedly and exclusively

Verse 41 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:41

Allah said, "This is the Path that leads straight to Me

Verse 42 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:42

Indeed, you shall have no power over My subjects, except those who follow you in deviating from the right way

Verse 43 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:43

And indeed Hell is the place promised to them all

Verse 44 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:44

It has seven gates assigned separately to separate sections of them

Verse 45 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:45

And those who fear Allah shall indeed be in gardens and fountains

Verse 46 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:46

They shall enter there in peace and security

Verse 47 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:47

And We will clean their hearts of any rancour. They shall be on couches face to face as brethren

Verse 48 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:48

They shall not have to suffer any fatigue therein, nor shall they be ever ejected from it

Verse 49 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:49

Inform my subjects that I am the Forgiver, the Merciful

Verse 50 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:50

And that My punishment is the painful one

Verse 51 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:51

And tell them about Abraham's guests

Verse 52 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:52

When they came to him and greeted, "Peace!" He said, "We are indeed apprehensive of you

Verse 53 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:53

They said, "Be not afraid! We do indeed give you the good news of a learned son

Verse 54 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:54

He said, "Do you give me the good news when old age has come upon me? What kind of good news is this that you give me

Verse 55 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:55

They said, "There is truth in the good news We give you! So be not of those who despair

Verse 56 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:56

He said, "And who would despair of the Mercy of his Lord but the wicked ones

Verse 57 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:57

He said, "What is your mission then, O Messengers

Verse 58 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:58

They said, "We have indeed been sent towards a sinning people

Verse 59 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:59

Excepting Lot's family, all of whom We certainly will save

Verse 60 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:60

But not his wife. We ordained that she shall indeed be of those who remain behind

Verse 61 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:61

So when the Messengers came to Lot's family

Verse 62 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:62

He said, "You indeed are strangers

Verse 63 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:63

They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they had doubts

Verse 64 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:64

And we have come to you with the authority, and what we say is most certainly the truth

Verse 65 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:65

So leave this place with members of your family in a part of the night and you yourself follow their rear. And let not any one of you turn around, and proceed whither you are commanded

Verse 66 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:66

And We declared to him this decree, that the roots of these (people left behind) shall be cut off by the morning

Verse 67 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:67

And the people of the town came to him rejoicing

Verse 68 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:68

He said, "These are my guests! Disgrace me not

And fear Allah and do not put me to shame

Verse 70 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:70

They said, "Have we not prohibited you from meddling with other people's matters

Verse 71 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:71

He said, "Here are my daughters, if you have to do it

Verse 72 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:72

By your life! They were wandering blindly in their intoxication

Verse 73 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:73

Then, at sunrise, the terribly rumbling sound struck them

Verse 74 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:74

We turned the place upside down, and rained stones of baked clay upon the people

Verse 75 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:75

In this indeed are signs for those with insight

Verse 76 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:76

And indeed it is located on an established road

Verse 77 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:77

Indeed there is a sign in this for the believers

Verse 78 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:78

And the dwellers of the wood too were most wicked

Verse 79 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:79

So We avenged them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road

Verse 80 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:80

And the dwellers of the Rock did certainly reject the Messengers

Verse 81 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:81

And We gave them Our Verses/signs, but they turned away from them

Verse 82 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:82

And they were wont to hew houses in the mountains for security

Verse 83 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:83

So the terribly rumbling sound seized them in the morning

Verse 84 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:84

And what they earned availed them not

Verse 85 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:85

And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them, but by due authority. And the Hour is most surely going to come. So fogive things — those that are forgivable

Verse 86 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:86

Your Lord is indeed the Knowledgeable Creator of all things

Verse 87 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:87

And certainly We have given you seven of the repeated Verses and the Glorious Qur'aan

Verse 88 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:88

Pine not for that which We have given some of them to enjoy, nor grieve for them. And be kind to the believers

Verse 89 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:89

And say, "I am indeed the plain warner

Verse 90 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:90

It is as though what We have sent down is on those who make divisions therein

Verse 91 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:91

Those that tear the Quran into shreds

Verse 92 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:92

And, by your Lord, We shall certainly question them all

Verse 93 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:93

Verse 94 — Surah Al-Hijr 15:94

Declare then openly what you are commanded with, and turn away from the polytheists
