English - Chapter 96 - Al-Alaq

Verse 1 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:1
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists)
Verse 2 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:2
Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood)
Verse 3 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:3
Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous
Verse 4 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:4
Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch]
Verse 5 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:5
Has taught man that which he knew not
Verse 6 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:6
Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc)
Verse 7 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:7
Because he considers himself self-sufficient
Verse 8 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:8
Surely! Unto your Lord is the return
Verse 9 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:9
Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents
Verse 10 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:10
A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays
Verse 11 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:11
Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)
Verse 12 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:12
Or enjoins piety
Verse 13 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:13
Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away
Verse 14 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:14
Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)
Verse 15 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:15
Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock
Verse 16 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:16
A lying, sinful forelock
Verse 17 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:17
Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers)
Verse 18 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:18
We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)
Verse 19 — Surah Al-Alaq 96:19
Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah
