Verse 1 — Surah Al-Insan 76:1

DOES THERE not pass over man a space of time when his life is a blank?⁴

Verse 2 — Surah Al-Insan 76:2

We have created man from the union of the two sexes, that We may put him to the proof. We have endowed him with hearing and sight

Verse 3 — Surah Al-Insan 76:3

and, be he thankful or oblivious of Our favours, We have shown him the right path

Verse 4 — Surah Al-Insan 76:4

For the unbelievers We have prepared chains and fetters, and a Conflagration

Verse 5 — Surah Al-Insan 76:5

But the righteous shall drink of a cup tempered at the Camphor Fountain

Verse 6 — Surah Al-Insan 76:6

a gushing spring at which the worshippers of God refresh themselves

Verse 7 — Surah Al-Insan 76:7

they who keep their vows and dread the far-flung terrors of a certain day

Verse 8 — Surah Al-Insan 76:8

who, though they hold it dear, give sustenance to the destitute, the orphan, and the captive, saying

Verse 9 — Surah Al-Insan 76:9

We feed you for God‘s sake only; we seek of you no recompense nor thanks

Verse 10 — Surah Al-Insan 76:10

for we fear from our Lord a day of anguish and of woe

Verse 11 — Surah Al-Insan 76:11

God will deliver them from the evil of that day, and make their faces shine with joy

Verse 12 — Surah Al-Insan 76:12

He will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk

Verse 13 — Surah Al-Insan 76:13

Reclining there upon soft couches, they shall feel neither the scorching heat nor the biting cold

Verse 14 — Surah Al-Insan 76:14

Trees will spread their shade around them, and fruits will hang in clusters over them

Verse 15 — Surah Al-Insan 76:15

They shall be served on silver dishes, and beakers as large as goblets

Verse 16 — Surah Al-Insan 76:16

silver goblets which they themselves shall measure

Verse 17 — Surah Al-Insan 76:17

and cups brim-full with ginger-flavoured water

Verse 18 — Surah Al-Insan 76:18

from a fount called Salsabil

Verse 19 — Surah Al-Insan 76:19

They shall be attended by boys graced with eternal youth, who to the beholder‘s eyes will seem like sprinkled pearls

Verse 20 — Surah Al-Insan 76:20

When you gaze and gaze upon that scene, you shall behold a kingdom blissful and glorious

Verse 21 — Surah Al-Insan 76:21

They shall be arrayed in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade, and adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them pure nectar to drink

Verse 22 — Surah Al-Insan 76:22

Thus shall you be rewarded; your endeavours shall earn much thanks

Verse 23 — Surah Al-Insan 76:23

It was We who sent down to you the Koran by gradual revelation

Verse 24 — Surah Al-Insan 76:24

therefore await with patience the judgement of your Lord, and yield to none of them, sinner or blasphemer

Verse 25 — Surah Al-Insan 76:25

Remember the name of your Lord morning and evening

Verse 26 — Surah Al-Insan 76:26

in the night time bow to Him: and praise Him all night long

Verse 27 — Surah Al-Insan 76:27

Surely the unbelievers love this fleeting life too well, and leave behind them a heavy day of doom

Verse 28 — Surah Al-Insan 76:28

We created them, and endowed their limbs and joints with strength; but if We please, We can replace them by others like them

Verse 29 — Surah Al-Insan 76:29

This is indeed an Admonition. Let him that will, take the right path to his Lord

Verse 30 — Surah Al-Insan 76:30

Yet you cannot will, except by the will of God. God is omniscient and wise

Verse 31 — Surah Al-Insan 76:31

He admits into His mercy whom He will: and for the wrongdoers He has prepared a woeful punishment
