Verse 1 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:1

Verse 2 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:2

These are the verses of the clear Book

Verse 3 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:3

Perhaps you will grieve yourself to death because they do not believe

Verse 4 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:4

If We willed, We could send down upon them a sign from the heaven, at which their necks would stay bowed in humility

Verse 5 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:5

No new reminder comes to them from the Most Compassionate except that they turn away from it

Verse 6 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:6

They have rejected [the Truth], soon there will come to them the consequences of their ridicule

Verse 7 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:7

Do they not see the earth, how many fine kinds of plants We grow in it

Verse 8 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:8

Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them will not believe

Verse 9 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:9

Your Lord is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 10 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:10

And [remember] when your Lord called out to Moses, “Go to the wrongdoing people –

Verse 11 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:11

the people of Pharaoh; will they not fear [the punishment of] Allah?”

Verse 12 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:12

He said, “My Lord, I fear that they may reject me

Verse 13 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:13

and I will feel distressed and my tongue will not be fluent, so send Aaron along [to help me]

Verse 14 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:14

Moreover, they have a charge against me, so I fear they may kill me.”

Verse 15 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:15

Allah said, “Certainly not! Go, both of you, with Our signs; We are with you, listening

Verse 16 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:16

Go to Pharaoh and say, ‘We are the messengers from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 17 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:17

that you let the Children of Israel go with us.’”

Verse 18 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:18

Pharaoh said, “Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you stayed with us several years of your life

Verse 19 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:19

Yet you did what you did, and you are extremely ungrateful.”

Verse 20 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:20

He said, “I did it when I had no guidance

Verse 21 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:21

So I fled from you in fear. Then my Lord gave me wisdom and made me one of the messengers

Verse 22 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:22

Is this a favor that you remind me with, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel

Verse 23 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:23

Pharaoh said, “What is ‘the Lord of the worlds’?”

Verse 24 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:24

Moses said, “The Lord of the heavens and earth and all that is between them, if only you had sure faith.”

Verse 25 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:25

Pharaoh said to those around him, “Did you hear [what he just said]?”

Verse 26 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:26

Moses said, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers.”

Verse 27 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:27

Pharaoh said, “Your messenger who has been sent to you is truly insane!”

Verse 28 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:28

Moses said, “Lord of the east and west and all that is between them, if only you had sense!”

Verse 29 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:29

Pharaoh said, “If you take any god other than me, I will throw you into prison.”

Verse 30 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:30

Moses said, “What if I bring you a clear proof?”

Verse 31 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:31

Pharaoh said, “Bring it then, if you are truthful!”

Verse 32 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:32

So he threw down his staff, and suddenly it was a real serpent

Verse 33 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:33

And he drew out his hand, and it was glowing white to the beholders

Verse 34 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:34

Pharaoh said to the chiefs around him, “This is indeed a learned magician

Verse 35 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:35

He wants to drive you out of your land with his magic. What do you suggest?”

Verse 36 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:36

They said, “Let him and his brother wait and dispatch heralds to the cities

Verse 37 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:37

to bring you every learned magician.”

Verse 38 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:38

So the magician were assembled at an appointed time on a known day

Verse 39 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:39

And it was said to the people, “Will you join the gathering

Verse 40 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:40

so that we may follow the magicians if they are victorious?”

Verse 41 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:41

When the magicians came, they said to Pharaoh, “Will there be a reward for us if we are victorious?”

Verse 42 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:42

He said, “Yes, and then you will surely be of those who are close to me.”

Verse 43 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:43

Moses said to them, “Throw whatever you wish to throw.”

Verse 44 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:44

So they threw their ropes and staffs, and said, “By the glory of Pharaoh, it is we who will be the victorious!”

Verse 45 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:45

Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it swallowed up all objects of their illusion

Verse 46 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:46

So the magicians fell down in prostration

Verse 47 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:47

They said, “We believe in the Lord of the worlds

Verse 48 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:48

the Lord of Moses and Aaron.”

Verse 49 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:49

Pharaoh said, “How dare you believe in him before I give you permission. Indeed, he is your master who taught you magic, but you will soon come to know. I will surely cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides, then I will crucify you all.”

Verse 50 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:50

They said, “No harm; we will surely return to our Lord

Verse 51 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:51

We hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers.”

Verse 52 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:52

We inspired Moses, “Leave with My slaves by night; you will surely be pursued.”

Verse 53 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:53

So Pharaoh sent heralds to the cities

Verse 54 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:54

saying, “These are but a small band

Verse 55 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:55

and they have enraged us

Verse 56 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:56

but we are all well-prepared.”

Verse 57 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:57

Thus did We drive them out of their gardens and springs

Verse 58 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:58

and their treasures and splendid dwellings

Verse 59 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:59

So it was; and We made the Children of Israel to inherit them

Verse 60 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:60

They pursued them at sunrise

Verse 61 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:61

When the two groups saw each other, the companions of Moses said, “We are surely overtaken!”

Verse 62 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:62

Moses said, “Certainly not! My Lord is with me; He will guide me.”

Verse 63 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:63

Then We inspired Moses, “Strike the sea with your staff,” so it parted, each part became like a huge mountain

Verse 64 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:64

Then We brought the others [pursuers] close to that place

Verse 65 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:65

and We saved Moses and all those who were with him

Verse 66 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:66

then We drowned the others

Verse 67 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:67

Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 68 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:68

Indeed, your Lord is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 69 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:69

Relate to them the story of Abraham

Verse 70 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:70

when he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?”

Verse 71 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:71

They said, “We worship idols and remain devoted to them.”

Verse 72 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:72

He said, “Do they hear you when you call upon them

Verse 73 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:73

Or can they benefit or harm you?”

Verse 74 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:74

They said, “No, but this is what we found our forefathers doing.”

Verse 75 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:75

He said, “Do you see what you have been worshiping

Verse 76 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:76

you and your ancestors

Verse 77 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:77

Indeed, they are my enemies, except the Lord of the worlds

Verse 78 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:78

Who created me, so He guides me

Verse 79 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:79

and it is He Who provides me with food and drink

Verse 80 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:80

and when I am ill He heals me

Verse 81 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:81

and He will cause me to die then bring me back to life

Verse 82 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:82

and I hope that He will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgment.”

Verse 83 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:83

“My Lord, grant me knowledge, and join me with the righteous

Verse 84 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:84

and grant me an honorable mention among the later generations

Verse 85 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:85

and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss

Verse 86 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:86

and forgive my father, for he is one of those who have gone astray

Verse 87 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:87

and do not disgrace me on the Day when all will be resurrected –

Verse 88 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:88

the Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail

Verse 89 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:89

except the one who comes to Allah with a sound heart.”

Verse 90 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:90

Paradise will be brought near to the righteous

Verse 91 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:91

and Hellfire will be uncovered to those who went astray

Verse 92 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:92

and they will be told, “Where are those whom you used to worship

Verse 93 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:93

other than Allah? Can they help you or even help themselves?”

Verse 94 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:94

Then they will be hurled into Hell one upon another, along with those who led them astray

Verse 95 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:95

and the followers of Iblīs, all together

Verse 96 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:96

There the deviants will say while quarreling with their false deities

Verse 97 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:97

“By Allah, we were clearly misguided

Verse 98 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:98

when we deemed you equal to the Lord of the worlds

Verse 99 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:99

None led us astray except the wicked

Verse 100 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:100

Now we neither have any intercessors

Verse 101 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:101

Verse 102 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:102

If only we had a chance to return, we would be among the believers.”

Verse 103 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:103

Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 104 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:104

Your Lord is surely the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 105 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:105

The people of Noah rejected the messengers

Verse 106 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:106

when their brother Noah said to them, “Do you not fear Allah

Verse 107 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:107

I am a trustworthy messenger to you

Verse 108 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:108

so fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 109 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:109

I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds

Verse 110 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:110

so fear Allah, and obey me.”

Verse 111 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:111

They said, “Shall we believe in you when you are followed by the lowest people?”

Verse 112 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:112

He said, “What knowledge do I have of what they do

Verse 113 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:113

Their reckoning is only with my Lord, if you realize

Verse 114 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:114

I am not going to drive the believers away

Verse 115 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:115

I am only a clear warner.”

Verse 116 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:116

They said, “O Noah, if you do not desist, you will certainly be stoned.”

Verse 117 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:117

He said, “My Lord, my people have rejected me

Verse 118 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:118

So judge between me and them decisively, and save me and the believers who are with me.”

Verse 119 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:119

So We saved him and those who were with him in the fully laden Ark

Verse 120 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:120

Then We drowned thereafter all the rest

Verse 121 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:121

Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 122 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:122

Indeed, your Lord is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 123 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:123

The people of ‘Ād rejected the messengers

Verse 124 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:124

when their brother Hūd said to them, “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 125 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:125

I am a trustworthy messenger to you

Verse 126 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:126

so fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 127 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:127

I do not ask you for any reward for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds

Verse 128 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:128

Do you build a landmark on every high place for no purpose

Verse 129 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:129

And do you construct for yourselves palaces, hoping that you will live forever

Verse 130 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:130

And when you attack [others], do you attack ruthlessly

Verse 131 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:131

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 132 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:132

And fear the One Who has provided you with everything you know

Verse 133 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:133

Who provided you with livestock and children

Verse 134 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:134

and with gardens and springs

Verse 135 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:135

I fear for you the punishment of a momentous day.”

Verse 136 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:136

They said, “It is the same to us whether you admonish us or not

Verse 137 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:137

This is nothing but the custom of the former people

Verse 138 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:138

and we will never be punished.”

Verse 139 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:139

Thus they rejected him, so We destroyed them. Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 140 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:140

Your Lord is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 141 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:141

The people of Thamūd rejected the messengers

Verse 142 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:142

when their brother Sālih said to them, “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 143 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:143

I am a trustworthy messenger to you

Verse 144 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:144

so fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 145 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:145

I do not ask you for any reward for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds

Verse 146 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:146

Will you be left secure in whatever you have here

Verse 147 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:147

in gardens and springs

Verse 148 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:148

and in fields of crops and date-palms laden with tender fruit

Verse 149 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:149

carving out houses in the mountains with great skill

Verse 150 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:150

So fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 151 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:151

And do not obey the command of the transgressors

Verse 152 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:152

those who spread corruption in the land and never do what is right.”

Verse 153 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:153

They said, “You are but one of those who are bewitched

Verse 154 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:154

You are but a human like us, so bring a sign if you are one of the truthful.”

Verse 155 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:155

Sālih said, “This is a she-camel; she will have her share of water and you will have yours, each on a specified day

Verse 156 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:156

Do not touch her with harm, or you will be seized by the punishment of a horrible day.”

Verse 157 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:157

But they hamstrung her, then they became regretful

Verse 158 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:158

So the punishment seized them. Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 159 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:159

Your Lord is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 160 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:160

The people of Lot rejected the messengers

Verse 161 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:161

when their brother Lot said to them, “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 162 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:162

I am a trustworthy messenger to you

Verse 163 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:163

so fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 164 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:164

I do not ask you for any reward for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds

Verse 165 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:165

Do you approach males with lust among all people

Verse 166 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:166

leaving the wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are but a transgressing people.”

Verse 167 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:167

They said, “O Lot, If you do not desist, you will surely be expelled.”

Verse 168 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:168

Lot said, “I utterly abhor your practice

Verse 169 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:169

My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequences of] what they do.”

Verse 170 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:170

So We saved him and all his family

Verse 171 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:171

except an old woman who was among those who remained behind

Verse 172 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:172

Then We destroyed the rest

Verse 173 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:173

and We poured down upon them a rain [of stones]. How terrible was the rain of those who were warned

Verse 174 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:174

Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 175 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:175

Your Lord is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 176 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:176

The people of the Forest rejected the messengers

Verse 177 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:177

When Shu‘ayb said to them, “Will you not fear Allah

Verse 178 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:178

I am a trustworthy messenger to you

Verse 179 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:179

so fear Allah, and obey me

Verse 180 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:180

I do not ask you for any reward for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds

Verse 181 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:181

Give full measure and do not be of those who defraud others

Verse 182 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:182

and weigh with accurate scales

Verse 183 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:183

and do not defraud people of their goods, nor go about in the land spreading corruption

Verse 184 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:184

And fear the One Who created you and the former peoples.”

Verse 185 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:185

They said, “You are truly bewitched

Verse 186 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:186

You are only a human being like us, and we think you are nothing but a liar

Verse 187 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:187

So cause pieces of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.”

Verse 188 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:188

Shu‘ayb said, “My Lord knows best whatever you do.”

Verse 189 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:189

Thus they rejected him, so they were seized by the punishment of the cloudy day; it was the punishment of a horrible day

Verse 190 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:190

Indeed, there is a sign in this, yet most of them would not believe

Verse 191 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:191

Your Lord is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 192 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:192

This is indeed a revelation from the Lord of the worlds

Verse 193 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:193

which the Trustworthy Spirit [Gabriel] has brought down

Verse 194 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:194

to your heart [O Prophet] so that you may be one of the warners

Verse 195 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:195

in clear Arabic language

Verse 196 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:196

And it was indeed [mentioned] in the scriptures of the former peoples

Verse 197 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:197

Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of the Children of Israel recognized it [to be true]

Verse 198 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:198

If We had sent it down to any of the non-Arabs

Verse 199 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:199

and he had recited it to them, still they would not have believed in it

Verse 200 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:200

This is how We made it [disbelief] enter the hearts of the wicked

Verse 201 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:201

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment

Verse 202 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:202

which will come upon them suddenly when they least expect it

Verse 203 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:203

They will then say, “Can we be granted some respite?”

Verse 204 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:204

Do they really seek to hasten Our punishment

Verse 205 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:205

Tell me [O Prophet] if We give them a life of ease for years

Verse 206 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:206

then there came to them what they were warned of

Verse 207 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:207

what would avail them the life of ease that they were given

Verse 208 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:208

We never destroyed any town without sending them warners

Verse 209 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:209

to admonish them, for We are never unjust

Verse 210 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:210

This [Qur’an] is not sent down by the devils

Verse 211 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:211

it is not for them to do this, nor is it within their capability

Verse 212 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:212

for they are strictly barred from overhearing it

Verse 213 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:213

So do not call upon any other god besides Allah, lest you become of those who will be punished

Verse 214 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:214

And warn [starting with] the nearest kinsfolk

Verse 215 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:215

and lower your wing [in kindness] to the believers who follow you

Verse 216 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:216

But if they disobey you, say, “I disown what you do.”

Verse 217 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:217

And put your trust in the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful

Verse 218 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:218

Who sees you when you stand up [for prayer]

Verse 219 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:219

and your movements among those who prostrate

Verse 220 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:220

Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing

Verse 221 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:221

Shall I inform you upon who the devils descend

Verse 222 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:222

They descend upon every sinful liar

Verse 223 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:223

who whisper hearsay in the ears, but most of them are liars

Verse 224 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:224

As for poets, they are followed by the deviants

Verse 225 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:225

Do you not see that they wander aimlessly in every valley

Verse 226 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:226

and that they say what they do not do

Verse 227 — Surah Ash-Shuara 26:227

Except those who believe, do righteous deeds, remember Allah much and defend themselves after being wronged. The wrongdoers will come to know what end awaits them
