Verse 1 — Surah An-Najm 53:1
By the star when it sets
Verse 2 — Surah An-Najm 53:2
Your companion [the Prophet] has neither strayed nor is he deluded
Verse 3 — Surah An-Najm 53:3
Nor does he speak out of his own desire
Verse 4 — Surah An-Najm 53:4
It is but a revelation sent down [to him]
Verse 5 — Surah An-Najm 53:5
He was taught by [an angel of] mighty power
Verse 6 — Surah An-Najm 53:6
and of great perfection, who manifested himself [in his true form]
Verse 7 — Surah An-Najm 53:7
when he was on the higher horizon
Verse 8 — Surah An-Najm 53:8
Then he approached [the Prophet] and descended
Verse 9 — Surah An-Najm 53:9
until he was only two bow-lengths away or even closer
Verse 10 — Surah An-Najm 53:10
Then he revealed to His slave what he had to reveal
Verse 11 — Surah An-Najm 53:11
The [Prophet’s] heart did not deny what he saw
Verse 12 — Surah An-Najm 53:12
Do you dispute with him concerning what he saw
Verse 13 — Surah An-Najm 53:13
He certainly saw him a second time
Verse 14 — Surah An-Najm 53:14
at the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary [in the seventh heaven]
Verse 15 — Surah An-Najm 53:15
near which is the Garden of Abode
Verse 16 — Surah An-Najm 53:16
when the Lote Tree was overwhelmed with [divine] splendors
Verse 17 — Surah An-Najm 53:17
His gaze did not wander, nor did it look beyond the limit
Verse 18 — Surah An-Najm 53:18
He certainly saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord
Verse 19 — Surah An-Najm 53:19
Have you [O disbelievers] thought about [the idols of] al-Lāt and al-‘Uzzā
Verse 20 — Surah An-Najm 53:20
and Manāt, the third one as well
Verse 21 — Surah An-Najm 53:21
Do you choose for yourselves males and for Him females
Verse 22 — Surah An-Najm 53:22
That is then an unfair division
Verse 23 — Surah An-Najm 53:23
These [idols] are no more than names you and your forefathers have made up, for which Allah has not sent down any authority. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their souls desire, although there has come to them guidance from their Lord
Verse 24 — Surah An-Najm 53:24
Is it that man can get whatever he wishes for
Verse 25 — Surah An-Najm 53:25
Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and this world
Verse 26 — Surah An-Najm 53:26
How many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will be of no avail except after Allah’s permission to whom He wills and pleases
Verse 27 — Surah An-Najm 53:27
Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter give the angels female names
Verse 28 — Surah An-Najm 53:28
They have no knowledge about it. They only follow conjecture, but conjecture is of no avail against the truth
Verse 29 — Surah An-Najm 53:29
So pay no heed to those who turn away from Our message and who only seek the life of this world
Verse 30 — Surah An-Najm 53:30
That is the limit of their knowledge. Indeed, your Lord knows best who has strayed from His Way, and He knows best who is guided
Verse 31 — Surah An-Najm 53:31
To Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on earth, so that He may recompense the evildoers for what they did, and reward those who do good with the best reward
Verse 32 — Surah An-Najm 53:32
those who avoid major sins and shameful acts, except for minor lapses. Indeed, your Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you best, as He created you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim purity for yourselves, for He knows best who is truly righteous
Verse 33 — Surah An-Najm 53:33
Have you seen the one who turned away [from Islam]
Verse 34 — Surah An-Najm 53:34
who gave a little, and then stopped
Verse 35 — Surah An-Najm 53:35
Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he has insight
Verse 36 — Surah An-Najm 53:36
Or has he not been informed of what is in the Scriptures of Moses
Verse 37 — Surah An-Najm 53:37
and of Abraham, who fulfilled his duty
Verse 38 — Surah An-Najm 53:38
That no bearer of burden will bear the burden of another
Verse 39 — Surah An-Najm 53:39
and that man will not receive except what he strives for
Verse 40 — Surah An-Najm 53:40
and that his efforts will be examined
Verse 41 — Surah An-Najm 53:41
then he will be recompensed in full
Verse 42 — Surah An-Najm 53:42
and that to your Lord is the final return
Verse 43 — Surah An-Najm 53:43
and that He is the One Who makes people laugh and weep
Verse 44 — Surah An-Najm 53:44
and that He is the One Who causes death and gives life
Verse 45 — Surah An-Najm 53:45
and that He created the pairs, male and female
Verse 46 — Surah An-Najm 53:46
from an emitted drop of sperm
Verse 47 — Surah An-Najm 53:47
and it is upon Him to bring about the second creation
Verse 48 — Surah An-Najm 53:48
And He is the One Who enriches and bestows wealth
Verse 49 — Surah An-Najm 53:49
and that He is the Lord of Sirius [a star worshiped before Islam]
Verse 50 — Surah An-Najm 53:50
And that He destroyed the earlier ‘Ād [people of Hūd]
Verse 51 — Surah An-Najm 53:51
and Thamūd [people of Sālih], sparing none
Verse 52 — Surah An-Najm 53:52
and [He destroyed] the people of Noah before them; they were indeed more wicked and more rebellious
Verse 53 — Surah An-Najm 53:53
And He toppled the cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] upside down
Verse 54 — Surah An-Najm 53:54
and they were utterly covered [by stones]
Verse 55 — Surah An-Najm 53:55
Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt
Verse 56 — Surah An-Najm 53:56
This [Prophet] is a warner like the earlier warners
Verse 57 — Surah An-Najm 53:57
The imminent Hour has drawn near
Verse 58 — Surah An-Najm 53:58
none but Allah can disclose it
Verse 59 — Surah An-Najm 53:59
Do you find this discourse astonishing
Verse 60 — Surah An-Najm 53:60
and you laugh [at it] and not weep
Verse 61 — Surah An-Najm 53:61
while persisting in heedlessness
Verse 62 — Surah An-Najm 53:62
So prostrate to Allah and worship [Him]
