Verse 1 — Surah An-Najm 53:1

By the star when it sets

Verse 2 — Surah An-Najm 53:2

your companion has neither strayed nor erred

Verse 3 — Surah An-Najm 53:3

nor does he speak out of caprice

Verse 4 — Surah An-Najm 53:4

It is naught but a revelation revealed

Verse 5 — Surah An-Najm 53:5

taught him by one of awesome power

Verse 6 — Surah An-Najm 53:6

Possessed of vigor, he stood upright

Verse 7 — Surah An-Najm 53:7

when he was upon the highest horizon

Verse 8 — Surah An-Najm 53:8

Then he drew nigh and came close

Verse 9 — Surah An-Najm 53:9

till he was within two bows’ length or nearer

Verse 10 — Surah An-Najm 53:10

Then He revealed to His servant what He revealed

Verse 11 — Surah An-Najm 53:11

The heart lied not in what it saw

Verse 12 — Surah An-Najm 53:12

Do you then dispute with him as to what he saw

Verse 13 — Surah An-Najm 53:13

And indeed he saw him another time

Verse 14 — Surah An-Najm 53:14

at the lote tree of the boundary

Verse 15 — Surah An-Najm 53:15

by which lies the Garden of the refuge

Verse 16 — Surah An-Najm 53:16

when there covered the lote tree that which covered

Verse 17 — Surah An-Najm 53:17

The gaze swerved not; nor did it transgress

Verse 18 — Surah An-Najm 53:18

Indeed, he saw the greatest of the signs of his Lord

Verse 19 — Surah An-Najm 53:19

Have you considered al-Lat and al-?Uzza

Verse 20 — Surah An-Najm 53:20

and Manat, the third, the other

Verse 21 — Surah An-Najm 53:21

Unto you males and unto Him females

Verse 22 — Surah An-Najm 53:22

This, then, is an unfair division

Verse 23 — Surah An-Najm 53:23

They are naught but names that you have named—you and your fathers—for which God has sent down no authority. They follow naught but conjecture and that which their souls desire, though guidance has surely come to them from their Lord

Verse 24 — Surah An-Najm 53:24

Or shall man have whatsoever he longs for

Verse 25 — Surah An-Najm 53:25

Yet unto God belong the Hereafter and this world

Verse 26 — Surah An-Najm 53:26

And how many an angel is there in the heavens whose intercession avails naught, save after God grants leave unto whomsoever He will and unto the one with whom He is content

Verse 27 — Surah An-Najm 53:27

Truly those who believe not in the Hereafter name the angels with female names

Verse 28 — Surah An-Najm 53:28

Yet they have no knowledge thereof. They follow naught but conjecture; and surely conjecture avails naught against the Truth

Verse 29 — Surah An-Najm 53:29

So shun whosoever turns away from Our Reminder and desires naught but the life of the world

Verse 30 — Surah An-Najm 53:30

That is the extent of their knowledge. Surely thy Lord knows best those who stray from His way, and He knows best those who are rightly guided

Verse 31 — Surah An-Najm 53:31

Unto God belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth, that He may requite those who commit evil for that which they have done, and that He may requite those who are virtuous with that which is most beautiful

Verse 32 — Surah An-Najm 53:32

those who shun grave sins and indecencies, save what is slight; truly your Lord is of vast forgiveness. He knows you best, from when He brought you forth from the earth and when you were hidden in your mothers’ bellies. So deem not yourselves purified. He knows best the reverent

Verse 33 — Surah An-Najm 53:33

Have you seen the one who turned away

Verse 34 — Surah An-Najm 53:34

gave little, and then withheld

Verse 35 — Surah An-Najm 53:35

Does he have knowledge of the Unseen, such that he sees

Verse 36 — Surah An-Najm 53:36

Or has he not been informed of that which is in the scriptures of Moses

Verse 37 — Surah An-Najm 53:37

and Abraham, who fulfilled

Verse 38 — Surah An-Najm 53:38

that none shall bear the burden of another

Verse 39 — Surah An-Najm 53:39

that man shall have naught but that for which he endeavored

Verse 40 — Surah An-Najm 53:40

and that his endeavoring shall be seen

Verse 41 — Surah An-Najm 53:41

whereupon he will be rewarded for it with the fullest reward

Verse 42 — Surah An-Najm 53:42

that the ultimate end is unto thy Lord

Verse 43 — Surah An-Najm 53:43

that it is He Who causes laughter and weeping

Verse 44 — Surah An-Najm 53:44

that it is He Who causes death and gives life

Verse 45 — Surah An-Najm 53:45

and that He creates the two—male and female—

Verse 46 — Surah An-Najm 53:46

from a drop when emitted

Verse 47 — Surah An-Najm 53:47

and that with Him lies the second genesis

Verse 48 — Surah An-Najm 53:48

that it is He Who enriches and grants possessions

Verse 49 — Surah An-Najm 53:49

that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius

Verse 50 — Surah An-Najm 53:50

and that He destroyed ?Ad the Former

Verse 51 — Surah An-Najm 53:51

and Thamud, sparing none

Verse 52 — Surah An-Najm 53:52

and the people of Noah aforetime—truly they were most wrongdoing and most rebellious

Verse 53 — Surah An-Najm 53:53

and He razed the subverted cities

Verse 54 — Surah An-Najm 53:54

such that there covered them that which covered

Verse 55 — Surah An-Najm 53:55

So which of thy Lord’s boons do you dispute

Verse 56 — Surah An-Najm 53:56

This is a warning from the warners of old

Verse 57 — Surah An-Najm 53:57

The imminent is nigh

Verse 58 — Surah An-Najm 53:58

It has no unveiler apart from God

Verse 59 — Surah An-Najm 53:59

Do you then marvel at this discourse

Verse 60 — Surah An-Najm 53:60

And do you laugh and not weep

Verse 61 — Surah An-Najm 53:61

a while you stand with head held high

Verse 62 — Surah An-Najm 53:62

So prostrate unto God and worship
